945 Latest Firmware Bugs, Issues and Missing Features

I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.

I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.

Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.

  • You can calibrate altimeter either via altimeter page:

    1. Enter current elevation

    2. Use DEM

    3. Use GPS

    or via

    Barometer Page by

    1. as above + enter manual local sea level pressure (MBar etc)

Using DEM has a bug - as it uses local height it seems but does not take you arms height over ground into account - so watch should really be adding 1m ‘ish to the DEM data but I find that it always uses DEM at ground. But that is nitpicking Slight smile

  • Concerning 1) there ist a thread about it suggesting a workaround: https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-945/165630/chest-strap-connected-but-wrist-ohrm-still-on-during-activity-945

if you restart the watch you can turn off OHR no problem and it turns off automatically when connected to a heart rate strap. It seems to be a problem when pulse ox was on. After pulse ox wa active, you get the same problem again.

  • Please take into account the above mentioned OHR Problem: after pulse ox has been in (even overnight) the OHR stays on even when turned off or connected to an external HR strap. A restart of the watch solves the problem momentarily.

  • Minor thing: in notifications I can see a lot of emojis in details mode, in the overview mode, there are only question marks.

  • How do people exit the stop watch? Feels like a silly question but there seems to be no defined way. I long-press light to get to the control wheel, select a widget, and exit from there... which is definitely silly.

  • When I start charging the watch, the watch asks me to add a WiFi network as no known WiFi networks are in range. Firmware 2.50

  • Returned my 945 today for a plethora of reasons, but the biggest one being the down button (Bottom left button) becoming permanently logged in the housing and not functioning anymore. When I say not functioning, It did not pop back out after being depressed but not actually doing anything while being stuck. Couple this with the constant battery drain being out of control (I even drained the watch to zero), my alarm now going off whenever it wants, PulseOX not getting readings for hours until forced and apparently now I'm getting broad blackout phases during sleep for HR readings, I think it was time to return it.

I'm going to attempt another shot at the 945. I might have just got a shoddy watch.

  • I don’t think you got a shoddy device.  I got a replacement for mine, all issues persist.  This watch was released with bugs all over the place.  Great idea but awful follow through at this point.  No HRV features work on mine.  No stress, no training status, or anything that uses HRV.  So a huge waste at this point.
