Strava segments are all messed up

I had to turn them off on this watch. I get the notification that the segment is coming up and then again once I get to it, but then I keep getting notifications of a strava friend's PB for that segment and the time to beat. And I keep getting that same PB time notification constantly for the rest of my run on that segment. It is so annoying! Why is it doing this? I thought I saw someone else post about this but I can't find it. It did not do this on my 935. I got the one initial notification of the upcoming segment and then one more when it began and that's it.

I switched auto effort off and it seems to spam bit less now. Couldn't find this on 945 manual but its in 645 (option is available in 945 too)

By turning that off you will still get a notification when you are approaching a segment and once the segment begins you will get the segment page, but you won't get all of the notifications updating you…

I've just started getting this since the update to 2.80. Beeped and buzzed the segment record every second i was on it. no way to stop it during the segment. Only way to prevent it is to cancel the live segment when i get the notification that i'm approaching. I'll take a look at the auto effort options!

I had this problem a few hours ago.

Setup a segment on Garmin Connect send it to the watch.

It alerted me 30meters before the segment, and then started alright, with the data screen of the segment time and the real time difference to the PB. About 200 meters after the watch start beeping and vibrating and showing "Personal Best and the time". It didn't stop and didn't allow me to change screens, only after stoping the activity and turning the segment off.

edit: I was using Garmin Live Segments, not Strava segments

I had this issue today. Got to one of my Strava Live Segments, once it started it wouldn't shut up and it's a 20 min segment... It actually stopped a few times but then it would have fits and start again.

Update: was reading here https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/fenix-5-plus-series/148226/new-interface-for-strava-live-segments/820897#820897 that it might just be the Auto-Effort feature, which auto-toggles between the Race Target based on your performance. Going to turn off Auto-Effort and see if this issue resolves itself.

But turning off the auto effort feature what happens? Don't show the live segment data screen when you enter the segment?

By turning that off you will still get a notification when you are approaching a segment and once the segment begins you will get the segment page, but you won't get all of the notifications updating you on your progress and you can move from that screen and it won't automatically keep going back to it. Basically, it's just removing the annoying spam factor.
