I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.
I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.
Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.
Issues with previous firmware:
- After done workout, 24/7 stress measurement stops working (workaround: restart watch)
- True up is not working properly when linked to an older device which supports true up (like the Edge 1030)
- "Around me" not working (stuck on "Loading Map" screen) when launched from "Map" if ''North UP" is selected in map orientation settings. Works only if "Track UP" is used. Works with both map orientation settings when launched from "Navigate" - confirmed, resolved in 2.64 beta
- Hourly alert malfunction - seems to be resolved in 2.50
- Power meter "0 Offset" calibration never ends
- Altimeter graph is reset sometimes, but not every day - seems to be resolved in 2.50
- Yoga activitiy files are corrupt - seems to be resolved
- Backlight not turning off on the acitivity screen until GPS position is fixed - seems to be resolved
- Vol+ not working for certain headphones (Jaybird Run XT, Aftersokz Aeropex, ...) - seems to be resolved
- Repeated Reboots when starting and saving an activity - maybe CIQ datafield related
- Before resuming an activity, no symbol shows if gps is ready
- Wrong calculations for Multisport in Training Status
- Exercise load double counted for the run in a multisport/triathlon activity
- OHR always on during activity even with HR belt connected
- Strava segments notifications repeating - - seems to be resolved in 3.30
- HR is broken unless the watch is actively recording an activity
- Skiing is broken; Frequent crashes after first run - seems to be resolved in 3.77 beta
Features missing in the latest 5.00 firmware:
- Backlight options after sunset on Gesture as well as Keys and Alerts - confirmed, added in 2.50
- Ability to disable LAP button - confirmed, added in 2.50
- Ability to disable/reassign DOWN hotkey function - unlikely to be implemented since the button symbol has been changed to a musical note in the latest hardware revision
- Sight'N'Go - confirmed, added in 2.64 beta
- Auto transition in triathlon mode
- Garmin Explore compatibility - confirmed, is now supported
- Stock digital watch face lacks ability to disable seconds
- Boating activity missing (was available on FR935)
- PacePro from Fenix6 - confirmed, added in 3.08 beta
- New ClimbPro gradient coloring from Fenix6 - confirmed, added in 3.90
- 6 data fields per page - confirmed, added in 3.08 beta
- Graphical gauge data fields - confirmed, added in 3.08 beta
- Hydration tracking to manually track liquid intake with widget and app from Venu/VA4 - confirmed, added in 3.90
- Estimated Sweat Loss post-workout from Venu/VA4 - confirmed, added in 3.90
- Respiration Rate for all-day and sleep metrics from Venu/VA4 - confirmed, added in 3.77 beta
- Breathwork Exercises from Venu/VA4 - confirmed, added in 3.77 beta
- Yoga and Pilates Built-in workouts from Venu/VA4 - confirmed, added in 3.77 beta
- Widget glances from Fenix6 - confirmed, added in 4.06 beta
- Workout Animation functionality: For Strength, Cardio, Yoga, Pilates from Venu/VA4 - added in 4.87 beta
- Backcountry ski activity from Fenix6 - confirmed, added in 4.29 beta
- Track recognition running mode from FR745* - confirmed, will be added soon
- Daily Workout Suggestions from FR745* - confirmed, will be added soon
- Grit and Flow in cycling from Fenix6* - confirmed, will be added soon
