945 Latest Firmware Bugs, Issues and Missing Features

I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.

I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.

Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.

  • Fair enough - it sounds like this is a different issue to the one that is driving me nuts at the moment, but clearly still OHR related. The 945 sensor and/or the software controlling it is definitely not working as it should be in a number of scenarios...

  • Wouldnt it be easy and natural to ad an option to set the scale for wind speed, as well as you can set many other in the watch? For at least people in Scandinavia wind speed in terms of km/h doesn't make sense at all, since it is never used in forecasts etc.

"Meters per second (m/s) is the SI unit for velocity and the unit recommended by the World Meteorological Organization for reporting wind speeds, and is amongst others used in weather forecasts in the Nordic countries."

  •  Another issue noticed with Ver 3.30. Elevation seems to be an issue, as I can assure you I wasn't going underground for the second half of my run.

  • I added a 6 field screen to my swimming activity but it´s not always shown. When I select the screens I want to have during the activity, it´s there. But when I start a swimming activity, it disappears. Kinda strange.

  • I get constant connexion drops with my Garmin ant+ sensors (HRM-TRI and FT-pod) while on the treadmill. I don´t´remember having this problem on earlier software releases (current 3.30). They both connect and disconnect at the same time from my watch and change dramatically the values of my workout which should be the similar considering I´m doing a constant pace on the treadmill. Pace is much lower with the internal accelerometer then with the pod (auto calibrated with outside runs) and the the same applies to the optical heart rate dropping to unreal values like 90bpm when I'm actually around 130-140bpm.

Doing an indoor workout on my bike I didn't see any significant dropouts or deviations from my vector 3 power values comparing to the values on zwift from my wahoo kickr. Workout measured separately to test the connexion out. Still need to do more testing on the bike though

For testing I connected my phone also to the sensors and they stay connected throughout the whole workout during while noticing the dropouts.

  • treadmill WALK would be good - and the calibration issues fixed of course

plus for running, a rolling average pace (across configurable time or distance)

and ability to have 3 or 4 or more connect iq datafields instead of just 2

  • i would also add that if one wants to check out a recorded activity, once you enter History -> Activities, if it's a longer activity (marathon in my case, apparently it works with shorter 10-14k runs) the watch loops in the loading screen a few seconds and returns back to the watch face; it works fine the second time; Former Member, perhaps you might forward this bug as well

  • I think there's an issue on the trainings to be transferred from GC: I tried with YOGA and Pilates trainings but once I try to transfer to my 945 a message appears saying there's no device compatible to transfer these trainings. I have latest SW 3.30

  • Have you noticed the beta? https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-945/208652/forerunner-945-public-beta-3-77-is-now-available

"Fixed crash that could occur on activity save at high elevation"

    Does that help?
