945 Latest Firmware Bugs, Issues and Missing Features

I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.

I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.

Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.

  • When you charge does your screen change to the large percentage indicator and a "pie chart" style whole screen charge level going to all green?

If so then your watch thinks it's connected to a PC/Mac and not a plain charger, and unplugging causes it to so a light weight restart.

  • Anyone having issues with your 945 not tracking sleep? Mine has not for three weeks now, even after I reboot. Been switching back to my 735XT during the week because that one is more reliable for sleep tracking.

  • Autolap by position

I need this feature to count my laps when running. I frequently forget to hit the lap button... Stuck out tongue winking eye

  • I need this me too.  I remember on my old 910 worked very well !!

  • If I may, I'll add my list of items I wish would be fixed / added to the 945 or future month of.

    1. Native Power support for running.
I cannot believe we have everything in place for this to work, yet its not enabled. We have power based plans, power based alerts and support for Ant+/BT power meters - yet it won't work with the 945 and running
    2. Support for hydration alert based on fluid loss, it seems to calculate / estimate fluid loss - it would be great to base the alerts using this data
    3. More of a ConnectIQ Issue - generate training load / factors from externally provided exercises (like zwift for example), having to record the exercise twice and then to delete one, seems very counterintuitive
    4. Morning Sleep Analysis - on wake provide feedback on night sleep on watch
    5. ANT+ devices on a per activity basis - why would I want my bike cadence connected when I'm doing yoga?
    6. Audio prompts on a per activity basis
    7. Daily Average HRV value written to Apple Health / Connect from the OHR (we know it does provide this info)
  • I never use it but it was on my old forerunner 305 some 15 years ago. Isn’t it hidden in a menu or so?

  • Just remembered Map themes were confirmed to appear? Maybe with Forerunner 955?

  • May I add to this list:

Yoga/Strength exercise animations like on the Fenix 6, Vivoactive 4 and Venu.

I thought that DC Rainmaker confirmed that this feature would come over to the FR945 as well?

  • I'm on the latest 4.40 firmware and I've also started to do the Garmin Coach Half Marathon training plan. On the positive side the plan is good and I'm really enjoying it.

During the workout you need to run within a certain pace range. This is indicated with a little speedometer that goes from red to green to red. I have noticed that at certain times this speedometer appears to freeze and is no longer representing the actual speed. If I use the down button to click through different screens I can see this as the default running screen keeps reporting the actual pace.

Is this an known issue, has anyone else observed this behavior?
