945 Latest Firmware Bugs, Issues and Missing Features

I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.

I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.

Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.

  • Former Member which weather app are you using on your phone? In my weather widget of the FR945  the temperature is 10°C (Scream) under the real temperature. I changed  app of the phone with accuweather but nothing changed, I really don't know where the watch or the phone are taking this so wrong temperature. I chatted with Garmin support USA, but they asked me where I was from and soon as I wrote Italy they closed the conversation saying to ask Garmin Europe. I emailed Garmin Italy for the second time, the first time they told me to be patient and wait that Garmin fixes GarminConnect, this time I'm waiting for an answer. If I change town and I bike 20 km from my home, weather widget reports the right temperature.

Weather is not wrong, and forecast is correct, but the screen with current weather always is outdated. Even after sync with phone.

  • for me too. Weather is not wrong, and forecast is correct, but the screen with current weather is wrong. Even after sync with phone. For example in the forecast says correctly that the min temperature of the day is 20°C and the max 30°C, but the current temperature reports  for example 10°C (impossible, it's 10°C under the min temperature of the day) in the night and 20°C in the day

It's called 1 Weather Widget and I'm using an Android phone.  Location is Seattle, Washington.

  • I seem to have the same issue. Builtin wether widget is showing 11C with low/high of 12C/21C and the actual wether outside is already 19C according to wunderground. Phone has been rebooted to update GPS already today.

Edit: After force-closing the Connect app on Android and resync it's now 16C - maybe an app issue, and not f/w.

  • Former Member I just installed on my Android phone the app 1Weather .

This app on the phone has a similar malfunction of the Garmin Weather Widget on my watch fr945.

In my location ARCO (TN) ITALY it reports now 15°C , but it shows max/min 29°C/21°C.

If I go in the settings of the app, in a location 20 km away, it reports the right temperature:

    MALCESINE (VR) ITALY 31°C max/min 27°C/18°C

Probably Garmin Connect takes his data from 1Weather (even if this app isn't installed wasn't installed in my phone), so it reports the wrong temperature.

When I contacted Garmin Support, they couldn't tell me where GarminConnect takes temperature.

If it takes the temperature from 1 Weather, I will try to contact 1Weather asking to correct the temperature for my location. I sent a mail to the app developer.

Maybe we are near a solution of this riddle.

I don't understand why Garmin doesn't tell in the manual where GarminConnect takes data for temperature and doesn't allow the user to choose another meteo app/website.

EDIT: The developer of 1Weather sent me an email and asked me to give him the support log so he can investigate which weather station is used for my location. In a FAQ of that app I read that they use WDT inc (Weather Decision Technologies Inc)for their weather data. So maybe Garmin uses the data of WDT too.

It seems that all my region is affected by this problem. The town 30 km away with the correct temperature are in two other different regions.

It's a bit of a shame that a developer of a weather app answered to my support request in the same day, while Garmin till now ignored all my support requests or wasn't able to fix this simple bug.

  • Since the update to 2.70 my OHR while broadcasting over ANT+ for Zwift has been atrocious. It worked fine before the update - see these two (otherwise identical) activities:

    Before: connect.garmin.com/.../3948696721

    After: connect.garmin.com/.../3972924243

I also still almost always see wind speeds of 236kmh on the weather widget...Rolling eyes

  • And today not even an app force-close and restart updates the weather. sigh.
