945 Latest Firmware Bugs, Issues and Missing Features

I made this thread because I thought it'd be useful to consolidate all problems that users have with the latest firmware on FR945 as well as features that we would like to see brought back from older models, like FR935 and Fenix 5+.

I will try to update the first post if the problems are solved or missing features added. Please report all firmware issues you encounter.

Also, I hope Former Member and other forum members from Garmin will read this thread and help as to improve our watch.

  • Had the same problem with my HRM Run, a reboot of the watch fixed the issue. I believe the problem is already reported in this thread:

    2. Sometimes connecting to ANT+ Sensors (Speed or Cadence Sensor) is not succesfull (restart of the watch, solved the problems everytime)

  • Same thing here...

  • When I check settings->Music->Providers I see Spotify, Deezer, My Music, Control Phone

  • Hi. Is it a bug or is my now second fr 945 fault again? My first had problems with the down button. Now the display shows me cryptic characters and actually I see in all menus only white screens without text! Only the last menu "about" shows me text. So I cannot reset the watch, without text in the menus. This I had realize by pressing buttons on startup. For one hour everything was fine, so much time I set up all again, til now, every menus are white again. What can it be? Is there a font faulty? I'm confused, so much expensive trash.

    Thank you.

  • Installed 2.64 beta on Friday. Noticed today gesture backlight isn't working. Was fine previously. Tried both After Sunset and On and a reboot and nothing. I note that the 2.64 beta post has gone from the forum...

Will try a rollback Monday, as I cant download it now - original files at work and no link because above.

  • Now I would update to the last firmware (beta), but the progress bar hangs in the middle during update (gear wheel) After I restart the watch, the same. How can I fix? Factory Reset with the buttons?

  • Oddly, it's OK today. Things that have changed - I have a silicone strap on instead of metal and I am testing from arm-vertical to horizontal chest level, while before it was from seated/half-lying on a sofa.

  • Thanks for this thread.

There is a bug by which the 945 will repeatedly reboot when the user attempts to begin an activity that includes the max of 2 CIQ data fields AND the user is at "altitude" (whether that is simulated altitude in a plane or real altitude like on a mountain).  The watch reboots, kills the CIQ data field, and then will reboot any time you attempt to do anything that involves a memory "tax" (like going into maps, etc).  It's highly frustrating.

Here is the thread, there are many of us experiencing this behavior.

I've read about this problem posted by several people.  Do you know by chance what the "trigger" altitude is?  I do several activities in the foothills of the Cascade Mtns and I haven't had the issue.  That being said, my home elevation is 470' and none of my activities were started more than 3800-3900' and finishing no more than 6000'.  I would also being interested in knowing if people experiencing this are using PulseOx in any manner as I leave mine turned off.  Garmin has stated it's a huge battery hog and perhaps it may have something to do with it?  I also make it a habit of manually calibrating my altimeter and barometer prior to every activity as opposed to just starting an activity and using auto cal.  Maybe this prevents my watch from the crash?  Just brainstorming. Slight smile
