Vivoactive 4 series & Venu SW 7.10 causing multiple user issues (meta thread)

Just wanted to create this meta-thread to highlight (to Garmin admins and developer/customer support) that there now seem to be multiple forum threads where users are highlighting major usability issues since update 7.10 for Venu and Vivoactive 4 series. For example, these are the threads that I can see (judging by title):

Thanks in advance for any work-around/bugfix that Garmin can rollout (urgently). I've tried downgrading a Vivoactive 4S to 7.01 BETA (using the normal file-transfer method), but the watch does not auto-update and just removes the file.

Usually it is enough to hold the off button until the watch restarts. That will not erase all data.

I love how garmin keeps pulling the threads about 7.1 causing issues. Literally every thread about it gets pulled within a day.

I love how garmin pulls every thread about 7.1 issues. So many people posting about it then within a day it’s magically pulled. Fix the update rather than restricting the thread garmin!

Yeah this is a big issue, just bought the watch, first update breaks it, hopefully this gets fixed asap.

For people who are happy downgrading firmware on their watches, you may want to note that if you download the 7.01 BETA firmware, it also contains a copy of the 6.90 RELEASED firmware:

Follow the instructions at the bottom of the post, for the "_690" firmware file, noting that:

Your watch settings will fully reset. Make a note of any Connect IQ apps or watch faces you have installed, so you can reinstall later.
You will probably need to re-pair (Bluetooth) the watch to your phone and perform initial "new watch" setup steps via Garmin Connect app.
Your watch will probably not auto-update back to 7.10, now that Garmin have pulled that release.

We did this on my partner's watch, and 6.90 is proving stable/good again (and it hasn't auto-updated in the last 24-48 hours).

... same here, downgraded my watch yesterday and it's working stable right now.

I had to pair watch and phone again and all apps (watchfaces, datafields, widgets ...) came back automatically to the vivo4, but pages in activities have to be set new, also settings in the control menu, widget order and shortcut.

I filled up the watch-memory with some dummy-data. Free space is now only ~5 MB, what should be enough for recording activities and preventing from storing up any update to the watch (GCD-File wich would be stored up in folder 'garmin' is bigger than 7 MB).

I copied the gpupdate file to the requested folder but it just disappeared. What I should to do?
