Fenix 6 pro green light sensor and heart rate not working consistently

I have read all of the threads for when the green light and/or heart rate from the watch is not functioning... trying everything suggested:

  • Restart the watch
  • Clean the back
  • Tighten the strap
  • Make sure software is up-to-date

I have done all of these!!

Occasionally when I restart the watch (several times in a row!) I can get the heart rate readings back, not always with the green light though (more often it does not turn on? Not sure if this is problematic).
It then might last a few hours, before dropping out again.

It also seems that even when the heart rate monitor is "functioning" the stress and body battery readings are completely thrown off.

I have invested a lot in garmin over the years, but I am very disappointed with this current lack of performance.

Please help, before I am forced to start exploring the world beyond Garmin!

  • I don't have good experience with the backup/restore feature. Running a Beta, btw.

  • We did my fix with the watch on, to allow for testing before re-closing the case.  My sensor lights did activate, the issue was that they didn't come on consistently or once on, stay workingConfetti ball

  • Downgraded/reinstalled 27.00. No backups shown to restore from (backups done before downgrade!), so starting from scratch with watchfaces and datafields ...

Still no WHR. I think that's it.

Might there be a 2nd connector below the battery? That sensor-connector-cable must go somewhere.

I tend to leave it that way and wait for the Enduro3 to get a bit cheaper ...

  • Would like to confirm that this solution works.

I have had intermittent issues with my heart rate sensor, accelerometer, and altimeter not functioning, sometimes individually, sometimes all at once.

After looking for a solution online, this post was the closest match for my issues. I suspected a connection issue as well, because sometimes smacking the back of the watch would restore heartrate monitor function.

I simply unscrewed the 5 torq screws on the top of the watch, carefully removed the two delicate ribbon connectors (one for the display, one for the solar cells) from the crown. From here, a small connector can be seen connecting to the motherboard, towards the edge. I removed this using a plastic pry tool. Then, I removed the two screws holding the motherboard in place. This allowed me to remove the motherboard completely, exposing the sensors and sensor connectors below it. I then used my pry tool to remove all connectors, and then replace them, carefully but forcefully ensuring the connectors were completely reattached. Lastly, I reassembled in reverse order.

This is an easy fix, just make sure you are very careful when first removing the screen. There will be 1 or 2 connectors that need to be removed before the screen can be pulled off. No need to worry about water intrusion, as the screen contains a semi-reusable gasket rather than a sealant type gasket. After completing this repair, all of my sensors work properly, and I haven't noticed any device lagging whatsoever. If you have disassembly questions, refer to this iFixit guide.

    Hope this helps.
