Hello,

My Fenix 6 was working perfectly until last night around 4 AM, when the heart rate sensor suddenly stopped measuring. Since then, the optical sensor's infrared/LED light stays on continuously and gets hot enough to burn my skin — I've had to take the watch off entirely and stop the watch as it also burns the battery really quickly.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this a known issue, and is there a fix, or does this require a repair/replacement?

Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar GPS bug

Firmware: 28.02

Problem

The watch intermittently acquires a GPS fix but places me near Lima, Peru, even though I am physically in Ukraine. During these events:

GPS reports a successful fix.
The watch continues tracking movement around Lima rather than my actual location.
The issue can appear after the watch has previously been working correctly.

What I have verified

Time and date are correct.
GPS mode tested with GPS + Galileo.
The issue occurs outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
The problem is intermittent rather than permanent.

Important observation

Deleting Garmin/GPS/CPE.bin temporarily restores normal GPS operation.

Typical sequence:

GPS starts reporting Lima.
I delete CPE.bin.
The watch searches for satellites longer than usual.
GPS begins working correctly again.
After some time, a new CPE.bin is generated.
Eventually the Lima issue may return.

This behavior has repeated multiple times.

CPE file analysis

I compared several CPE files:

A "working" file.
Two files collected around periods when the issue occurred.

Results:

The files are not identical.
One file is 64,000 bytes, two are 65,024 bytes.
Internal identifiers differ (CPE_GPS.BIN, CPE_GAL.BIN, CPE_QZSS.BIN).
Binary comparison shows tens of thousands of differing bytes, confirming these are different prediction datasets rather than renamed copies.

Current hypothesis

I cannot conclude that the CPE data is the root cause. However, there is a strong correlation between regeneration of CPE.bin and the appearance of incorrect GPS positioning.

I am currently analyzing the complete Garmin filesystem to determine whether another cached file stores the incorrect location or contributes to the issue.

Has anyone experienced similar behavior or found additional files that affect Assisted GPS/CPE data on the Fenix 6 series?

Race predictor unstable

My race predictions recently jumped and are way off. THey occasionally jump back to a more accurate value. I don't see any activities entered wrong.

Previously had a fairly consistent under estimate of my ability. Now way off and jumping wildly.

Training suggestion stuck on Recovery

Since last Saturday training suggestion is stuck on recovery. I get every day the same, have done the suggested run and rested well, but nothing changes. Restart of watch doesn't help, Fenix 6X Pro Solar

Inactivity Reminder only triggers in the afternoon

I always have the inactivity reminder on, but it always starts triggering at 12:30 PM, never earlier. After that it works as intended. I have configured my sleeping schedule in the settings to 2 AM - 9 AM, so it should trigger sooner after I get up, right? And it's not as if I'm more active in the morning than in the afternoon, so the conditions are the same.

Does anyone know if there's another setting that controls when the reminder triggers?

Battery Power Level Not Updating

This has been happening for several weeks now when I am doing vertical laps of stairs and pushing the lap button and then pause at the top of the stairs and then hitting start once I have returned to my start point by elevator. This has not happened previously with other builds of the software. Could also be an issue with the barometer but it is counting the floor upwards with no problems.

fenix 6S zero distance tracked on activities although speed is displayed during activity

My last few activities (kayaking, cycling) the distance tracked has been 0. My watch gets the (GPS ✔) notification, and on my last cycling activity, I noticed that it showed my speed during the entire trip while showing 0 km. My last activity with distance tracked was a running activity 1 month ago. I don't know if my watch was updated since, but I expect it must have been. It's impossible to see the software version on the watch itself.

It starts when watch didnt do time sync via GPS once. And now it can't do sync at all. I start Time Sync, after some time it say time synced and shows green screen with time. This screen hang till battery over some times it takes 2 days. I did it many many times. If i press back lap button when it shows me this green screen - watches still stay no time sync with time goes slower then real.

Fenix 6 Sapphire stuck in a bootloop.

The Fenix 6 Sapphire is stuck in a permanent bootloop, freezing or crashing at different points, two times it started fully but crashed after pressing two buttons. It seems like the watch powers up, but it fails to load the operating system or complete the boot cycle.

Troubleshooting i did and the results:

Pre-Boot / PC Connection: Watch is recognized by the PC only in Pre-Boot mode (holding START while connecting).
Garmin Express Status: Garmin Express detects the watch but falsely flags the current firmware as v11.20.
Write-Protection / Error Codes:
- WebUpdater fails with a "file corrupted" error when trying to force v20.50.
- Garmin Express shows "No additional language files/other files available to install", leaving the "Install Now" button permanently greyed out.
Resets Attempted:
- Classic Master Reset (Two-Beep method) completely ignored; the watch does not emit any beeps.
- Hard power cycle (holding Light/Power button for 30+ seconds) just reboots back into the loop.

Hello everyone, I have a Fenix 6X Pro Sapphire, and the GPS software is stuck on version 0.00. Even after performing a reset, it prompts me to reset again to use the GPS, but it remains stuck on the same problem. I've read and tried many ways to format and reset it, but I can't get my GPS watch working properly again.

Fenix 6 pro connected on express but no access to data

My Fenix 6 pro is connected on garmin express but remains not visible as USB drive.

I can see it green on GE welcome page, yet it does not appear as usb drive on the PC.

The USB drivers are up to date

I want to remove the CPE.bin file that may have made the watch so slow.

Is there any other possibility to access the content of the watch ?

Fenix 6 Sapphire - Race predictor suddenly showing elite times

Fenix 6 Sapphire - Race predictor suddenly showing elite times (5km went from 27min to 18min), but overnight resets to normal, but glitches back to odd times after recording any activity (not just a run, but walk, strength - anything). Seems to be following 28.02 update. Nothing I do can resolve the mismatch with race predictor spikes. VO2Max unchanged. No other changes to what I do, only this sudden and inaccurate race predictor times now.

Horizontal flickering lines

Horizontal flickering lines have suddenly started appearing on my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro (from one minute to the next). At times, this makes the display unreadable. A reset and a hard reset did not improve the situation. I’ve also completely drained the battery and recharged it, but that didn’t help either.

Interestingly, this happens almost exclusively on dark or coloured backgrounds.

I’ve already contacted Garmin support, but they don’t offer either a repair or a replacement for this watch (only a discount on a new watch of my choice). That’s a shame, since I only bought the watch 5 years ago and all of its other functions work perfectly. So it would be a waste to have to throw the watch away.

Does anyone have any advice on what else I could try to fix the display?

Race Predictor not working. Also Personal Records not detecting my personal records

Im consistently running sub 20 minute 5km. But my race predictor is predicting my 5km to be 20:34.

How can this be?

As part of one activity, I usually do 5km warm up followed by a sub 20minute 5km.

Does the activity as a whole need to be exactly 5km maybe?

Actual settings backup

Is there a way (or third-party software) to properly backup all the settings of a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro?

The precious (and time consuming) settings are mostly data screens, but also choices regarding ClimbPro, lap keys, hot keys, etc.

Apparently, just saving a copy of the settings files to the computer won't allow to restore those.

I took manual notes of every possible of my settings, but that sounds like an anachronism in 2026

Running distance incorrect BUT when saving course and reversing direction it becomes correct

So I have a strange problem with my Garmin Fenix 6 that I did not find mentioned before. Sometimes when recording running activity it shortens distance by about 15-20% but map data looks correct. Few days ago I ran a course that was about 13.7km and map data of this activity looks correct but in activity summary it shows that I ran only 12.5km. Weirdest thing is, when I tried to save it as a course for future and in editing menu clicked 'reverse direction' it somehow corrected itself to right distance. Did anyone have that sort of problem in past and know if there is a way to avoid this happening? Below you can see tracked course on left and reversed on right.

Watchface showing percentage of daily steps goal (Garmin Fenix 6 Pro)

Hi. I have a Fenix6. I listen to podcasts when I go out running. I usually have half a podcast episode left, but when I go back out running; or when I skip to next track, it doesnt remember teh playback position. Is this a known bug? Or is there a way to make it remember my playback position?

fenix 6x pro light in watch face - not working

Hello,

This is regarding the light that comes on and illuminates the dial, when you press the top left hand corner button. It lights up the screen, so that i can see the time in dim light or whatever.

That light has stopped coming on.

Is there anything that can be done, or is the only solution to replace the watch?

I bought it second hand, and it is way past its warranty period etc, so I do not believe I have any locus standi in applying to Garmin for a replacement. All I am hoping for is for there to be some simple trick to reset the light and make it start working again.

Hola, desde hace tiempo mi Garmin Fenix 6x pro no mide bien la distancia cuando estoy navegando. Lo he comprobado con otros dispositivos y con otros Garmin de amigos y el mío siempre mide la distancia mal, normalmente unos 2-3 kms mas que lo real. No tengo ni idea el motivo pero me gustaría por favor que me indicasen cómo solucionarlo. También tengo otro Garmin Etrex 35T y este si mide bien la distancia. Gracias.

Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire wont update bluetooth software

Im having issues connecting to my phone, after some digging, this seems to be a common issue. I did the fridge trick and it works, but drops connection as soon as it warms up.

Ive checked the BTE version and it says 5.04, im trying to update it to version 6 with no success. It downloads the update, installs it "sucessfully" but it still says 5.04 on the About page. Is this normal?
