This is regarding the light that comes on and illuminates the dial, when you press the top left hand corner button. It lights up the screen, so that i can see the time in dim light or whatever.

That light has stopped coming on.

Is there anything that can be done, or is the only solution to replace the watch?

I bought it second hand, and it is way past its warranty period etc, so I do not believe I have any locus standi in applying to Garmin for a replacement. All I am hoping for is for there to be some simple trick to reset the light and make it start working again.

No tengo ni idea el motivo pero me gustaría por favor que me indicasen cómo solucionarlo. También tengo otro Garmin Etrex 35T y este si mide bien la distancia.
I'm seeing a recurring "Planned Recovery" suggestion on my Fenix 6S Pro every Wednesday and Friday. The watch says something like: "Recovery. No training today. This is a planned recovery day."

I'm not aware of having manually configured this. My best guess is that it's a leftover from an old training plan I used a while ago — that plan had rest days on Wednesdays and Fridays. The plan is no longer active, but it seems like those rest day settings have persisted somewhere in the system.

I've checked and I have no active training plan in Garmin Connect right now. My firmware is up to date.

My questions:
1. Where exactly are these "planned" rest days stored? On the watch, in Garmin Connect, or both?
2. Is there a way to reset or clear them without doing a full factory reset of the watch?
3. Has anyone else experienced this kind of leftover configuration after deleting/deactivating a training plan?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

My Fenix 6 is only showing a black screen

My Fenix 6 is only showing a black screen and not responding to me pressing the light button or charging it. In reality, the activity and biometric data are uploaded properly. I formatted the watch, reinstalled the firmware, deleted and reinstalled the time zone file, but nothing happened. After about a day, the Wi-Fi data transfer failure message appears again.
Device: Garmin Fenix 6 Silver Edition
Issue Description:
I am reporting a bug regarding the "Daily Suggested Workout" feature. Yesterday, I started a suggested "Base" cycling workout (1 hour 30 minutes duration).

During the ride, at the 1 hour and 9 minutes mark, I performed a manual pause. When I resumed the activity, the "Time Remaining" countdown timer on the workout screen stayed frozen at the remaining time. Despite the fact that all other data fields (speed, heart rate, distance) continued to track and record correctly in the background, the workout-specific countdown timer did not decrease for the remainder of the session.

This issue makes it difficult to follow structured intervals or duration-based goals when a stop is necessary during a long ride.

Fenix 6X showing in Connect as Fenix 6

Hi

I’m looking for advice regarding a **Garmin Fenix 6 Pro** that appears stuck in a long boot / recovery loop.

I bought the watch second-hand, and according to the previous owner it was used heavily for about two years for all kinds of activities (running, cycling, etc.), so it likely contains a large number of recorded activities.

### How the problem started

The watch initially became stuck on the **triangle/arrow boot screen** and did not respond to normal button presses. Eventually I managed to trigger a boot sequence once (the watch vibrated and the backlight came on briefly), but I could not reproduce that again.

After many attempts, I left the watch powered on and it eventually progressed through several boot screens on its own.

### Current boot sequence

When I leave the watch alone, it now follows a repeating cycle that looks like this:

1. Triangle / arrow screen (ca. 1 hour)

2. Garmin logo (ca. 1 hour)

3. “Fenix 6 Pro – Copyright 2019 Garmin” (ca. 2 hours)

4. “Converting GPX files” (initially **no progress bar**)

5. After roughly **~1 hour**, the same screen appears **with a white progress bar**

6. The watch stays on this screen for **many hours**

7. Eventually the watch **restarts by itself** and the cycle begins again.

### Timing

The first full cycle took approximately:

* **Start:** ~20:00

* **Restart:** ~11:00 the next morning

So roughly **15 hours for one full cycle**.

Since then I have seen at least **one more cycle** start again.

### Additional observations

* The progress bar appears but **does not visibly fill**.

* The watch **does not feel warm**, even after many hours.

* The **backlight has only turned on once** during an earlier vibration event; otherwise the screen appears unlit.

* The watch **is not detected by my Mac** at any point.

### Things I have already tried

* Long press of the **LIGHT button (20–30 seconds)** to force power off

* Multiple button combinations for **soft reset / master reset**

* Attempted **forced USB storage mode**

* Connecting to **Garmin Express on macOS**

* Watching Finder to see if the device mounts as a USB drive

* Opening the watch and **disconnecting the battery for several minutes** (hardware reset)

None of these methods allowed the watch to appear as a USB device or stop the conversion loop.

### My suspicion

Since the previous owner recorded activities for about **two years**, the watch may contain **hundreds or thousands of activity files**. I suspect the watch might be trying to rebuild its activity database and possibly encountering a **corrupted activity file**, causing it to restart the conversion process each cycle.

### Questions

1. Is it normal for **“Converting GPX files”** to take **10–15 hours per cycle** on a Fenix 6 Pro?

2. Could this indicate a **corrupted activity file** that the watch cannot skip?

3. Is there any **way to force the watch into USB storage mode** so I can manually delete files from the `/GARMIN/ACTIVITY` folder?

4. Are there any **other recovery procedures** that can be performed without Garmin service tools?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m

hoping to recover the watch if possible.

Thank you for your help!

Fenix 6x dark screen when lap swimming

I use Fenix 6x multiple times a week for lap swimming. The screen is always visible during swim to keep tract of time/distance

Several weeks ago, my Fenix 6x Pro developed a screen fault — it started showing a red bleed across the text. I contacted Garmin Support and was quoted what felt like a very high price to repair this older watch. In fact, it would have been significantly cheaper to buy a refurbished model than to repair my existing one.

While I was still deciding what to do, the watch developed a second issue. It now restarts randomly — sometimes it won’t get past the blue boot triangle, and other times it boots and then crashes shortly afterward. I’ve tried several factory resets, but the problem still persists.

My question is: Could this second fault be related to the original screen issue? If I can find a replacement display on eBay or AliExpress, is there any chance that replacing it would resolve both problems, or does this sound like a separate hardware failure?

Thank you, Martin

Incident detection while saving a run

I pressed Stop after a run but did not save it immediately.
I know there are work-arounds, but I feel like this would be something very simple for garmin to add as an update. I find it annoying to have to start and stop daily activity tracking prior to starting an activity like running.

how does the Treadmill calibration work on Fenix 6 standard model ?

Help with treadmill calibration on Fenix 6 standard model please!

I think I'm done with Garmin

Since purchasing my Fenix 6 Pro Solar a couple years ago, and a garmin InReach Mini I have had SO many issues with both devices and all of the 4 or 5 garmin apps I've installed and I'm pretty sure that not one time when I reached out to support for help they were able to resolve my issues.

Safe to say my next prospective purchase, the Edge 1050, is no longer on my bucket list. And I'll be canceling my In Reach subscription.

I recently posted that my watch keeps disconnecting from Garmin Connect on my phone and I have to re-pair it every time I open Connect. After spending an hour or so with tech support this morning I was told there is no known fix for this issue and I could have a 25% discount on a new purchase. Why would I want to spend $500 on a new watch with multiple prospective issues that are unresolvable?

I would expect Garmin to take better care of their multiple device purchasers out of respect for their loyalty despite multiple issues. I can go on about all of the other issues I'm still having with my devices but I don't think that will be necessary.

My Garmin Fenix 6 Pro does not pair to iPhone

Hi,

Until a few days ago - today is Jan 31st 2026 - my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro typically paired with my iPhone (before iPhone 13 Pro, now 17 Pro). It was not always smooth, but restarting Garmin Connect App, iPhone, Fenix 6 Pro helped to solve connection issues typically.

As kown, since a few days there are issue connecting iPhone with Garmin Fenix 6 Pro. Garmin Connect v5.21 shall solve that issue.

But I'm still not able to pair my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro to my iPhone.
Following steps of https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=8CBmYmJHUr36wvJ6AktXFA does not help.

Any hints?
