With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

Trust me, getting the right fonts is extremly important to me. Maybe you can help me with that! Garmin say they use Roboto in stock fonts, but it is obviously some modification of Roboto - it is close, but not the same. I found this font:

that other developers say is closer to Garmin stock. Would you please take a look?

I am also looking for a good outline font that would look similar to Garmin stock. I found this:

but it seems off to me. Can you recommend anything else?

Hello,

I was looking at the Roboto font you mention and I think it might be the one used on some fields in the watch, but definitely not the one used for the time or, for instance, for data In activity screens.
I’d say it might be the font you actually use on the metric fields of Glance watch face.

The other font you mention (Rajdhani) is indeed quite similar to the stock time font and it would be great if it could be used for the metric fields as well.

This goes back to a suggestion I made long time ago about harmonizing time and metric fonts as it is the case for the Enduro stock watch face (see picture). I admit that the 2 factors which make me prefer the free Glance version over the pro are: 1. my Enduro is not System 5 compatible yet (but it’ll be sooner or later); 2. me too, I prefer the time font of the free version.

Out of curiosity, I admit that I don’t have any knowledge about coding Garmin watch faces and there is something about system fonts which I don’t get. I remember you told me that the font of the time of the free version of Glance is a system font and that the one used for metrics is a system font as well. They look definitely different though. Is the system using different fonts depending on their size, or something like that?

Darn, I should ask about the watch model. Week number is not available on Instinct 2 due to memory restrictions.

Free Glance app uses only stock fonts, for both, time and metrics. The only font option for apps is size - you can't choose weight or a different font. There is no guarantee that different stock font sizes will use the same font - in fact the same font size is different on each watch model. Only Garmin knows what font is used for each size.

What you see on stock watch faces is not necessarily the same fonts available to the apps. Garmin uses custom fonts there too. My Instinct 2 has outline font on stock watch face for example, but it is not available to the apps.

Yes, you are right, the Rajdhani font is the closest to the system fonts. It looks great in the time field and just as well in data fields - if you ever manage to get it there, it will be great.
I couldn't find a font closer to the system font than Rajdhani ...

Metrics will never use a custom font - that would require a all letters and multi-language support.

For TIME I will add Rajdhani font option when I have TIME .
