With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5c0fe72b-f045-4366-a878-d3e67c600868

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Hi. You watch face is by far the best. Is there any possibility of having a data field for a glucose monitor connected through xdrip?

Not at the moment, but I'm planning to add that functionality through 3rd party complications support. Sometimes soon I hope...

  • Hi!! First of all, big congrats for your watchfaces. I've been using GLANCE in my FENIX 6X pro and I love it.

I installed GLANCE ULTRA a few days ago but I have a small problem. I configured the watchface 2 days ago, but once done, I cannot change the configuration of the watchface. Any attempt to change any item (data, colours, whatever), the IQ app shows me the same message: "the configuration cannot be updated, try it later".

It doesn't happen with any other watchface installed in my FENIX. I've restarted the watch, updated the IQ app, switched off and on the bluetooth connection... but the problem persists. Any idea?

Many thanks in advance and, again, contratulations for your work.

  • I’m curious if there is a way to have calendar appointments displayed

Not being able to save settings is a Garmin Connect IQ issue, most likely caused by the workload on their servers (Garmin uses Internet to save app settings for some reason). Garmin says the fix is in the works (look at the post by Garmin developer Richard.ConnectIQ):
    forums.garmin.com/.../unable-to-save-settings---garmin-server

I encourage you to leave a comment in that thread, to show Garmin the urgency of this issue.

The issue seems to be random and can affect any app (it might work for some apps, but not for others, work for most users, but not for some others). Unfortunately the apps have absolutely no way to fix it - it is 100% Garmin functionality. Until Garmin fixes it, you can try the following workarounds:
    - Use Garmin Express to save settings.
    - Try to save settings at another time (when Garmin servers are hopefully less busy).
    - In some countries you need to use VPN to save settings (users from Russia, for example, reported that VPN is often required to save settings).
    - Contact Garmin support, though it is the last resort and rarely helps - support people are notoriously poorly trained and blame everything on 3rd apps without trying to speak to their own developers first (most likely they can't even do that).

It doesn't happen with any other watchface installed in my FENIX.

It does happen randomly to all apps - see the forum thread above.

    Not at the moment.

  • "Garmin uses Internet to save app settings for some reason"

What a stupid approach. Data should be saved locally and synced with the servers at the earliest opportunity. Typical Garmin. They let you record voice memos on the Fenix 8, but don’t sync them to the app…

BTW, I wonder if I’ll ever see third-party complications from you, or if I’ll switch from Garmin to Pebble first. Because of their stupid solutions, I haven’t upgraded my F7 to a newer model.
