EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Excellent face, only one I use, please consider adding precipitation as a field

  • This DEW point value, what purpose? I’ve read about the comfort levels- sticky If > 16C (61F) etc but how does it help us? For training purposes or so? One does actually experience itself when the heat becomes sticky, uncomfortable, oppressive- no need for a number to confirm or am I missing something? Thanks for clarifying.

  • Hey Forkys, I'll answer you from my point of view, and try to keep it short since this is a developer forum. You are right in a sense. You don't NEED a number to confirm it is humid or sticky, but I would argue that you don't need a number to confirm it is hot or cold, but people still find temperature useful to know. I find it convenient to have an absolute value for humidity. Before I go out on a run, I look at temperature and dew point, and those two numbers give me a great idea of how I'm going to feel. One could argue that "feels like" does the same, but I prefer to look at the numbers separately.

  • Hey MobileDriveway, just a follow up on the approximation formula for dew point. I've been thinking, and even though it says in the article I shared it is "close enough", people who own high end Garmin devices are usually pretty finicky about precision, and I'm thinking maybe you would get "hate" for the approximate DP value. I know runners want their GPS and their HRM to be ultra precise. So I'm taking my suggestion for DP out of the hat unless it's the real formula. You do what you want, of course.

Thanks - I myself never use Dew Point, just fulfilling a request.

Well, I wish you mentioned it earlier - the Dew Point is already implemented based on your request. I can't take it out - people do get upset when something they count on during the purchase (or even something they consider a promise) is removed.

Can you give me a more precise formula? It must be based on Temperature and Humidity only (I don't see Pressure provided by Garmin Weather and I don't want to use onboard pressure sensor as it is missleading sometimes).

  • Sorry about that. I have actually implemented a Monkey C function that calculates it. I could share that with you, but I'm not on my personal computer right now. It is based on the actual formula, which is 100:

    DP =(B1*(ln(RH/100) + (A1*t)/(B1 +t)))/(A1-ln(RH/100)-A1*t/(B1+t))

    where

DP is the dew point temperature (in celcius)
t is the ambient temperature (in celcius)
    RH is the Relative Humidity
    A1 is a constant equal to 17.625
    B1 is a constant equal to 243.04

  • Very nice watchface! Very clean and easy to read. Glance Dual is amazing! I like new progress bars.

if possible please add "Daily active minutes" for all progress bars. Daily goal can be calculated as "weekly active minutes goal / 7"

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind.

  • Purchased Glance Pro the day it was released and just purchased Glance Dual so I could use the progress bars as well as arc bars.
