Broken watch band mounts

Has anyone experienced this? My wife had the same problem with the Vivoactive 3 on two occasions and now with the 654M.

She works in a pharmacy so there is not much she can bang the watch on while at work and just takes long walks for exercise. I bought this for her July 15th and here we are, December, and I am dealing with another broken watch.

It is a good thing that Amazon is amazing since I was able to return it with no problems but good grief!

  • That's crazy!  On Amazon (in the US) you could get a new one for $267!  ($217 for a refurbished one)

  • Apparently it is a classic. I have a FR45, with a different strap system, but also broke for no reason. I my case, Garmin (Iberia) say it is not a defect (!!!) and refuse to replace it. I guess this is  normal quality standard for them...

  • I had the same. Mine broke after 14 Months and was replaced by Garmin for a refurbished one

  • Garmin may replace it - submit details here (at least in Canada):  https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?faq=fWW1dV4Y3O9RufIvQqEyG7&productID=612476&tab=topics

In other countries, go to the Support Centre section on the Garmin website and it may provide information on what to do if you have a 645/M with broken band mounts or lugs.

  • Same as most here - sent my vivoactive 3 music back to Garmin and got a free replacement - no hassle, great support.  Not bad.

  • Mine broke too. Garmin refused to replace it, unless i paid 140 euros. At the end I ended up buying a back cover from China, en replaced the back housing by switching over all the internals. It is not that hard, and the en result is a good working watch for 20 euros again! (My english is not the best, I am not a foreign English speaker:)

    I bought this one:

You will also need B7000 glue, for gluing the case and screen back together.

  • My wife broke my old 645 given to her when I switch to F6pro.

One of the first 645, already some cracks on the lugs but not broken.

She broke it after two month. The great new: it was when she put it on her wirst at home. Broken lug was on the ground. I picked it and I glued it and ... voilà ! It works flawlessly ! (she runs four times a week and put on/off her watch every time, so it's a stress test for the lug on the pins where the band is attached)

I've also glued the three other lugs, just in case ...

Waiting two month more to have from China a silicone protector case incluing the lugs and still working: glued lug + silicone case ;)

I purchased a 645 in 2019, the watch case broke after less than a year and it was replaced twice with a new and a refurbished model, each lasting a little less than a year. They even have a 645 replacement page on the support website. This time around they are asking $120 for a refurbished replacement.

  • Same with my fr645, what's the point of making the watch scratch proof meanwhile u can not wear it because there's no bracelet?... I rather have a scratch in my watch at least I can use it.
