Broken watch band mounts

Has anyone experienced this? My wife had the same problem with the Vivoactive 3 on two occasions and now with the 654M.

She works in a pharmacy so there is not much she can bang the watch on while at work and just takes long walks for exercise. I bought this for her July 15th and here we are, December, and I am dealing with another broken watch.

It is a good thing that Amazon is amazing since I was able to return it with no problems but good grief!

  • My watch broke in the exact same way. I’ve had the watch for 18 months, so I don’t think I’m going to have any luck with the return. So now stuck with a working watch that has no way of mounting a band.

Probably, but might be worth a try.

Yep, same issue here, i've had the watch since may june 2019 so not about 7 months. The internet company i bought it from is not responding and also Garmin service NL has not reacted. So far i am very disapointed with the Garmin service. I am trying to get in contact by phone, hopefully that will help.

  • Mine broke this way too.  Garmin (US) told me to send it in, and they are sending me a refurbished unit.  I sometimes have my strap on a tad tight since I'm deaf, so depend on the vibrations when I'm running, rather than any audio alerts the watch sends.  I don't know if the break was from that, or if it got "caught" when I  was putting on my jacket, since that's when the band finally popped out.

I just had the same situation. The watch band mounts broke yesterday while I was on a run and the watch fell off when I was crossing the traffic light! I bought the watch in Jan 2019, so looks like I got a little bit more life out of it, but it is still not acceptable for a $500 watch! Just contacted Garmin, waiting to see what they would suggest. Love Garmin, but if the customer service is not up to a standart, will have to switch to another brand!

It's a known issue. It seems that Garmin acknowledge it and they offer a replacement. It happened to mine 645 after 15 months of careful use and they replaced it with a new one. Now I just wait to see when it will happen to my new one...

  • Same for me, after ~20 months. I've got a replacement watch.

That's good to hear they replace it!

  • Same thing just happened to my Forerunner 645M.  I only had it 4 months and Garmin replaced it but I expect it will happen again.  The case is made of some brittle resin or plastic and evidently cracks at the watch band mounts as they are small and vulnerable to stress or contact.  Never had a problem with my old Tomtom watches which I wore for years.  Now I am afraid to wear my Garmin when working around the house or yard because it is so fragile.
