Mushy/sticky buttons

Trying to get a feel from others if the buttons on their 945 are as bad as mine are. The UP/DOWN buttons in particular seem to get stuck and, while they work, they don't fully actuate with the normal 'click'.

Gr4z, I would order from Wiggle again because their return policy is very good
  • Was about to order my 945 from Wiggle UK, now not so sure what to do. Sounds like most are having issues.

AGAIN, the 935 syndrome. But also like the 935 will probably have no long-term negative affects.
  • OnlyTwo My serialnr: 5Z6011xxx DeviceID: 3995276xxx From: Wiggle UK Delivered: 2 may Sealed Box: yes
  • I'll add that the newly exchanged 945 is now exhibiting some of the same problems as the first. It's a little bit better overall but the button actuation and tactile response is frankly still pretty bad. It's not that the device is unusable but it really does degrade the user experience, in my opinion.

I think this may end up being similar to the 935 where the initial batches weren't as good as the later batches in terms of button response. The second 935 that I had gotten later in the life cycle was noticeably better than my launch original. And now comparing that 935 to my current 945 it's night and day in how the product feels to use.

Looks like I'll just deal with it and consider doing a warranty exchange in a few months if it gets any worse.

Not good news. Just ordered mine from Wiggle for delivery tomorrow. Lets see what that is like. Did you replace yours using the supplier or Garmin direct?
  • Having a good look at the button, I think the cause is possible "aggressive sealing". I wonder if over time it loosens up and becomes "clicky" all the time.
  • Just received my 945. Happy to report that the buttons are all reasonably clicky - no mushiness or sticking as far as I can tell.
  • Remember that there will be a lot of people who don’t bother to comment on this thread to whom it is not an issue. All my buttons are clicky for the record

    Same here, all are clicky!

statistics: delivery on May 6th, Wiggle, sealed.
  • All buttons are ok for me. Of course the feeling is not the same as with my Fenix 5+ but that's expected.

statistics: delivery on May 9th (1h ago ;-) ), Wiggle, sealed.
