Hi,
My Fenix discharges very quickly. 20% per day without GPS workouts and without AOD. That's relatively high compared to my Epix 47mm.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
I hope that this will be fixed with the next firmware update.

Our engineers are still investigating battery drain concerns associated with the Fenix 8. They would like to point out many things that are expected to increase battery drain beyond the estimated days…
Update September 25, 2024:
Our engineers have discovered an issue that was causing incident detection to remain after, after being used in an activity. This was causing a significant increase in the battery…
Hi Laurie,
Already shared these informations with you weeks ago, enabled logging, still no reliable fix on Garmin's end. Should we trust the brand at all?
I understand the items list you have above…
Same problem here, with fenix 8 51mm amoled.
PulsOxy Setting -> manuel
AOD off
Gesture Mode on with 4Sec
No GPS activities etc.
Display Off overnight / Red Shift on Touch
Bluetooth Connection to iPhone
Issue…
Yes, the battery drains even when not wearing the watch.
Anyway, some of these tips are ridiculous:
Turn on the battery saver feature from the controls menu (Controls). I dont buy the watch to be in battery…
To be honest I think I'll leave it turned off now,I don't actually have any sensors.
The only thing I've got is the Garmin Z30 range finder and I think with it being Bluetooth it should be ok.I tried it last night and with auto discovery off the paired rangefinder says searching and when I fire it,it connects instantly.
@lant, so with the autodiscovery=off option, you will be able to connect the sensor .. Just autodiscovery is blocked for new unpaired sensors .. , so there are no blockers for connecting devices( am I right ) , Bluetooth or Ant+. So, from your point of view, it's better than before?
It seems to be a lot better, even with no activity. With the same settings last week apart from the auto discovery being on ,I was using more battery life. Its just actually gone down to 95 percent as we speak but I think 5 percent in 2 days is actually better than my Tactix 7.
If the fix comes with a software update everything should be fine but until then I will leave it turned off as it doesn't t need to be on.
With Autodiscovery=OFF, after an activity with an external sensor I lost 3% of battery in 5 hours which is way too much (fenix 8 51mm). Had to do a restart.
Summary: deactivating autodiscovery does not solve the problem completely.
I don't have the problem
But i don't install any updates since september. I use the software 9.20 on my fenix 8 amoled 51mm.
I know, all updates cause drain battery with all fenix. I decided don't install any updates and i don't have any problems
When the updates will be "stable", i will realize an update
Yes you have the the restart whi is really bad .. things is if hear rate sensor is working differently as other bluetooth device or its related to the ant+ issue .. i am doing same tests with logs so we will see what is happening after activity ..
OK, something weird is going on with this watch. Battery drained this morning 4% in last 4 hours while yesterday battery drain was 4% in 24 hours. Funny part is Im using watch exact SAME way like yesterday. I did not changed or touched anything...... i have to say wtf?????
but did you use external sensor in activity ? for me for now activity without sensor is OK no increasing battery usage or draining ..
today TEST: will go run using by wrist HR without stryd will then compare how battery consume will look. .. no restart after activity
tomorrow TEST: run with HRM PRO plus without Stryd .. no restart after activity
sarturday TEST: runb with HRM PRO plus with stryd .. no restart after activity
External sensor is contributing to the problem but it isn't the reason this drain is happening. I posted on other threads on this, it seems like there is some background process happening in the watch that just keeps draining the battery and this usually kicks off after an activity.
It doesnt matter if the activity is GPS or no GPS or sensors were used in my experience.
Garmin-Laurie the advice you have given here is assuming we're over utilizing the watch and that drains the battery. That is not the case. Many of us are using the watch exactly the same day by day and when the drain starts, it doesn't matter what happens, it will keep draining until the soft reset of the watch.
Like I said two post up. Something started battery drain without activity, without BT, without wifi, without OX. Yeah I would say some background process, but what process if I didnt do anything on the watch.
My last activity was on sunday, its on phone allready and didnt had any issue until today. I dont use any BT sensor at all, just the phone but I didnt connect it since sunday.
