Fenix 6 pro green light sensor and heart rate not working consistently

I have read all of the threads for when the green light and/or heart rate from the watch is not functioning... trying everything suggested:

  • Restart the watch
  • Clean the back
  • Tighten the strap
  • Make sure software is up-to-date

I have done all of these!!

Occasionally when I restart the watch (several times in a row!) I can get the heart rate readings back, not always with the green light though (more often it does not turn on? Not sure if this is problematic).
It then might last a few hours, before dropping out again.

It also seems that even when the heart rate monitor is "functioning" the stress and body battery readings are completely thrown off.

I have invested a lot in garmin over the years, but I am very disappointed with this current lack of performance.

Please help, before I am forced to start exploring the world beyond Garmin!

  • Well, today after many tests I ruled out that it is a hardware problem. Since the heart rate is not working, I have deactivated it and turned off the watch. I have turned it back on and activated the pulse and as if by magic it started working normally. Normally when it stopped working I had to tap it with my fingers, giving the impression that some connector was loose. But by performing this action if it was something loose it would not work with the previous step. I don't know what is causing this but Garmin should release an update since something in the software is not working well...

  • Good morning. Did you have to remove the flex or battery connector as well? Or just the screen connector and board? Is it still working today or has it given you more problems? Thanks

  • Hi, the watch is working great,no problem what so ever. Everything is working great simce I disconnected and reconnected everything. And YES I did disconnect Everything to be on the safe side and reconnected it back. Been swimming with the watch since I did that several times. i am using the watch every day, all sensors ON. Updated to the latest firmware, once and a while connecting it to GArmin connect on my PC.

  • Well, I'll have to open it and do all the actions you did. It's getting worse. Today it hasn't detected a heart rate and the lights don't turn on. I don't know what's happening to the watch. Hopefully, with what you're telling me it will fix it. If it works or not, I'll post it here. In case it's useful to people. I'll do it tomorrow morning. Thank you very much for answering. As I said, tomorrow I'll post if it worked and how it was.

  • Finger crossed!!! It worked with my watch hopefully it will work on yours too. Best regards to you.

  • Buenas tardes. Muchas gracias!!!!

  • Really happy fornyou it worked great!  WHEN i posted here on Garmin forum how I did it I got complain from Garmin that it is not the way to do it becuse it will not be waterprof ftwr you but it back together and that I shouldnt be posting this as fix solution. BUT, I have been testing my watch mny times in the sea and in the pool and rill this day it is working great! It has been severl months now. am really happy for you.

  • I won't put it in water and I'll take it off when I shower. I prefer that to not having a heart rate. I don't do water sports so in my case it's not a problem. It is a problem that an essential feature of the watch doesn't work!!!! I'm sorry if Garmin is upset, that's not my intention. But if this works it's a solution to a watch that costs a lot of money.

  • Just one more thing regarding Garmins own solution: they said if everything  they said I should try did not work they could offer my a refurbished watxh (dont remeber the price) and I should send them my waych as well. So that made me think: Aha,OK so you are sending me someone elses watch where you (am guessing)  preformed disconnect/rexonnect solution. To my watch you will do the same and sell it as refurbished. No thank you. :)

Anyway, hret that it worked out great with your watch and of course spread the word :)

  • Well, I just got back from a MTB ride and everything was perfect. Working perfectly and without any faults. Above all, the lights were on at all times and without losing intensity. Because in recent weeks the lights lost intensity or turned off while wearing the watch on my wrist.
