11.10 Battery drain - support is not support

Hi all,

so support is not answering to my questions and the try to answer me with “systems answer”.

Battery drain is big after 11.10 update.

I tried remove Garmin device file. Factory reset device after unpairing device and watch, I was sure don’t install CIQ apps that can propably cause problem.

Nothing works and Garmin is not able to write me: Sorry, we made bad update, we will fix it in next week.

Is it normal from support? When OnePlus phones started I had problems and support worked in same way, but after year they started collecting bug reports and their device now work like a charm. Why? Because their software are tested by professional big hunters.

  • I don't think so i my case. Because I have oxymeter in sleep-only mode, and the watch eats the battery continuously during the day.

different issue then. In my case turning the oximeter off helps, but that's not a real solution...

  • How did you dowgrade gps and sensorhub? Does reverting to 10.10 version from 10.78 beta downgrade also Sensorhub, or you need to do it in a different way?

  • Today I took off my F6X and left it on the table with about 20-30% of battery. After 8 hours I take it for a run and it was dead of battery. Somehow It lost all the juice. It's the first time I see something like this.

  • If still an issue, go to System > Reset and reset the watch

Does resetting means losing all the paid watchfaces ? ... And reinstall and re tune all the fields ?
No thank you. It is tedious and even not certain to change anything...

Actually on my Fenix 6 Pro with blue Tooth and I got 1.5% by hour.
With Airplane Mode On, I'm back to 0.4% by hour...

Waiting for a beta which is curing that issue.

EDIT: Even with Airplane Mode ON now it goes 0.9% by hour.... and I'm on OEM watchface with no seconds.

  • As Fenix 6X should have 21d of battery life, it should consume 0,198% of battery per hour...

With pulseox during sleep it says 15d of battery life, which is in average 0,27%, but still during the day it should be the 0,198%

so the power consumption is in any case twice as much as it was before

  • So an update on my Fenix 6 Sapphire. I done a third hard reset on my device and the battery seems to be holding up. I went on a 4 hour hike today in Dorset UK and my battery was still at 10 days.

Which brings me to my next point. Once fully charged my battery was only displaying 10 days which normally a full charge I would of got around 12 or 13 days....?

So I am not sure what has gone on but all I know is that this update has been a failure and that garmin really need to resolve quickly.

  • Was that in a standby mode or in a sports mode? I.e. Had you already activated your hiking? 10hrs is still a bit light on most sports modes, but that would perhaps lean a bit to the answer.

BTW, if you dig in through the updates, one of them (perhaps 9.98) was addressing the issue of incorrect battery after disconnecting from charge. Are you on 11.10?

  • Apologies Peklo

I had 10 days during standby mode not 10hrs!! lol.

After I took it off the charger this morning (have been charging daily as was unsure how long the battery would last), I had 10 days then I started my hike, I finished the 4 hour hike and had still had 10 days left which was positive news as the other day I walked for 2 hours and my battery went from 10 days down to 4 days!!

By the end of today I had 9 days in standby mode so it's moving in the right direction in terms of it lasting though I'm still not happy with the fully charge amount. It should be for me at least 12 or 13 days on a full charge.

  • So after many shenanigans downgrading various modules I got a bit stuck. The only complete package I had available was 9.94 Beta.zip and it wouldn't install.

So I wiped the whole watch clean, put 11.10 and I'm going to test that. So far all is good in standby mode. Unfortunately, as I dislocated my knee yesterday, any form of sports mode will have to wait. Hopefully, Garmin will sort it by then? Nerd
