How to install and configure NoFrills

Please post any issues, questions and / or suggestions you have here and I will assist as best I can.

  • Hi HermoT,

    SW Version: 4.40 / GPS Version: 3.30 / Display Version: 2.3 / TSC Version: 2.2 / BLE/ANT: 2.3 / Sensor Version: 2.8 / WHR Version: 10.02.74 / Connect IQ: 2.4.1
    Language: Chinese Traditional.

When I change the language to English, the problems can be solved, may I know you will solve the language problem in this version or next version?

    Thank you~

Thanks for the details. I will take a look to see where the problem is.

    Hi HermoT,

When I changed English to Chinese traditional again, this problem was solved. However, Watchface's name still is "83QE5253" but it still works. Thank you very much for your assistance.

That is the internal file name that is assigned to the NoFrills app when installed from the store. I agree it isn't correct, but I'm sure that an uninstall with a reboot thereafter and then a fresh install may fix the problem.

    Hello HermoT,

A strange thing started happening today where the bottom half of the large clock numerals are being cut off by blank space.

The face was fine until around 12:30 CST and it was creeping up slowly. At 3pm it was at the height of the picture.

But I think I figured it out. The colour for the process bar that I set last week (new watch) should be green/(alt)blue/ flat line - not blue/(alt)black/ flat line.

At some point today, the settings switched to colour/(alt)black/flat line. I'm not sure how that happened while I was wearing it.

I did sync it to my phone this morning for sleep progress, so unless something happened then through my phone, I'm clueless.

Once plugged into the computer it continued to revert back to blue/ black no matter how often I uninstalled/ reinstalled and set it to colour preferences and resynced to the watch.

However, when I turned off the alt progress colour bar option the clock numbers are fine... but default blue. Could there be something buggy with the second alt. colour progression?

If its user error, please let me know. I can be a dull crayon 50% of the time. No worries.

  • Hi Hermo

I've encountered a bug. Since the last update, the watch has had a battery drain of 0.8 - 1.0% per hour when idle. After deleting your watchface, it went back to the normal values of 0.3 - 0.4% per hour (when completely idle).

It must have something to do with the WHR, since it is recording my HR during the night in 1s intervals, against the usual sporadic intervals (it's an older fenix 3 HR).

I've only deleted the watchface this morning, so I will have to wait for next morning to be completely sure that the WHR won't record my HR at 1s intervals. But from what I've seen from my idle battery drain it seems to be back to normal.

My fenix 3 HR and its sensors are on the latest Firmware and I use a Galaxy S7 with Android 8.0 (if that is somehow important). If you need any additional information, let me know.

Cheers (and thx for this great watchface as well as for your work you put into it! :) )

  • Scorp1981 How do you know it is recording HR at 1s intervals?
The fenix 3 series does not support 1Hz updates to the display, so I doubt that this could be the issue.
I will check if I can spot something.
  • I can see it from my HR Chart in GCM. I've in the past used some CIQ Apps to sometimes record my HR during the night, so I know well how a 1s HR recording looks compared to the normal HR recording during the night. It is not the Display I meant, since I've disabled the "Show HR" feature on your watchface (exactly because the f3hr does not support 1Hz updates). But I can see that the WHR never turns off during the night and that HR is recorded way more accuarate during the night as per usual.

Sorry, should have been a bit more detailed about it before.

P.S: the last 7 Hours (since I've deleted the watchface), the consumption has steadily been 0.3% per hour. I cannot imagine that it is not related, since it's the only thing I've changed (well, deleted)
  • Thanks for the details, I’ll definitely see if I can find something.

Do you think there could have been a firmware update recently that could contribute to the drain?
  • No recent Firmware that I can remember. The only updates were (probably) timezone updates.

    SW 4.9
    Display 3.70
    GPS-Version 3.30
    BLE/ANT 3.60
    Wifi 2.40
    CIQ 1.4.4
    WHR 2.90 (10.02.74)

If I had to guess, i'd say that it's forcing the WHR to measure constantly.

    P.S. totally unrelated, but isn't a 1s interval actually 60Hz? ;)
