How to install and configure NoFrills

Please post any issues, questions and / or suggestions you have here and I will assist as best I can.

  • Your watch face is great. Thanks for developing it. Would you consider 2 ideas. use the number fill up for seconds instead of steps, or put the seconds in between the : between the HH MM, there looks like there would be room. I think that would be a nice addition if its not too difficult to code.
  • Hi HermoT,

Do you know already wherher it can work some time in the future?

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to check it. There are unfortunately a lot of other things I need to do with NoFrills first before I can get to that. :(
Sorry to disappoint you. I'll definitely report back here when I know more.
  • Good question. There is definitely room for improvement. I will add it to the backlog for investigation.
If I discover an issue with the implementation, I will report back here with a better explanation.

    It works like a spell.
  • It works like a spell.

So glad you noticed it! I was planning on notifying you this morning, but you jumped me! :)
Thanks for a great suggestion, I agree this is how it should have been implemented from the beginning!
    Enjoy!
  • Earlier I had checked it once a day. :-)
After your previous post I made my check rarer, but was lucky today.

    Thanks for the implementation.
  • Maybe it is too early to say but it may be a bug in the new version. During the last 24 hours my watchface switched to small clock fonts twice. I dont know how it happened, but in both cases I set it back to "big fonts" in settings.

Unfortunately at the same time I 'demolished' some fearures of Fenix 3 HR to maximize battery life. Regarding those changes what I observed that although I had switched off OHR and the activity tracking on my watch, they were also automatically set back to active in the settings of NoFrills, but it may have happened since the GC mobile app settings overrode those on my Fenix 3 HR.

Anyway the whole issue was strange. By now I switched off activity tracking and wrist heart rate in GC app too. And I wil see whether the clock fonts size of NoFrills will be kept as big ones with the automatic switch to small ones when showing the seconds, and auto switch back to big ones when seconds are hidden, OR not.
  • I have noticed something similar regarding the small font. It happened once on an older slower device I have, the FR 230. The larger font layout didn't return after the seconds stopped displaying.
Unfortunately there is a lot that needs to happen to switch between the large and small font layout, and when the high-power mode ends, there is a very brief moment in which you can request a final screen update before it goes back into low power mode.
So I guess that everything I do to switch back from small to large layout before going into low power may just be too much. I will have to monitor this situation, but it doesn't bode well.
  • I noticed more.

In the morning when I finetuned the setting of NoFrills the small font setting was reactivated even if I did not touch it, just changed other settings like where the notification icons should be.

I decided not to set anything for a couple of hours.

The switch between the big and small fonts worked well for hours.

Then I charged my watch. It can be the reason no 1.

Paralelly it lost Bluetooth connection. Reason no 2?

And I realized that again small fonts are shown permanently. And permanently, so the problem is not that the watch is stuck at, but something overwrites the font size for eternity. Even if you play with your wrist to show seconds the big fonts never come back unless you go to settings of the watchface on GC mobile app.

And what is really strange, that when you go there "use smaller clock fonts" are active again even if you made your last save with an inactive state of it.

I had never seen any similar regarding other CIQ apps. It seems the watch writes the data of GC app during the syncs.
