NoFrills (watch face)

Support and feedback section for the NoFrills watchface

How to install and configure NoFrills

Please post any issues, questions and / or suggestions you have here and I will assist as best I can.

  • I updated NoFrills to the 5.8.0 version and " Seconds in high power mode" option is missing. Is there any way to have the same functionality as before.

Thanks for the excellent watch face.
    Thanks

Can you please state which device you have?

That option has been removed for all watches capable of displaying always-on seconds. All fenix 5 and later devices support always-on seconds.
The option is still present for the older devices before the fenix 5 release.

I have never thought that people would prefer the older and more primitive way of displaying seconds in high-power mode.
The previous behaviour of showing the seconds only in high power mode was born out of the limitation of being able to show always-on seconds and has always been frowned upon and caused confusion with users.

It is Fenix 5. Please, pretty please, pretty pretty please with a cherry on top return "Seconds in high power mode" option. This is the best gimmick I have on my watch. With seconds always-on, F5 is like any regular $10 Casio watch.
  • 1) A second time zone option (in my case UTC/GMT).

So you want a setting to change the timezone of the main clock? Just want to make sure I understand you correctly. There is no other space than the datafield below the clock, so if it is a second clock, it will have to be selected as the datafield under the clock.

    2) Auto (or manual) color inversion depending on sunrise/sunset (or time). White=day. Black=night.

The idea sounds cool and reasonable, but there are complications that I will have to investigate, such as keeping track of a second set of colors for all configurable components. I think the challenge lies in the memory management and performance, and I don't want to impact that. I'll put it on the backlog for investigation.

    3) It seems Garmin's stock watchface does a better job at backlighting. It is just me? #2 might fix that problem?

Backlighting uses the same colors. I am no expert, but I don't think there should be any difference. You might perceive it differently based on the elements and other color combinations.

Thanks dev for this just-perfect face... just what I needed...

One quick question... I've decided to configure the elevation/temp below the time and am now wondering which temperature it is. As I can see it, it seems to show the ambient temp plus a few degrees generated by my body (in which case, I'm sure it could be configure to adjust the difference)... or is it the temperature based on the weather app (in which case it's seeing me somewhere in Florida!!! - and I'm up north!)

    Thanks again !

  • Looks like last night's Fenix 3HR update broke something because I lost my NoFrills watch face. Rebooting the watch didn't bring it back and NoFrills does show up in my Watchface screen and is selected, but I still get only the default watch screen. Has the update broken anyone else's settings?

Yes, Fenix 3 HR version 4.70 broke NoFrills for me as well.

You are 100% correct with your assumption. Body temperature skews the reading from the built-in temperature sensor.

I don't have plans yet for reading from a weather service as it incurs costs etc.

Love this watch face...but the latest Vivoactive HR update broke it. It still shows up in my watch faces listing, but when I select it it reverts back to the default. No amount of rebooting seems to help. When I go back into settings it shows NoFrills as being selected...but it's not the watch face that's showing the time.

Please let me know which firmware version you are on now and also please send me the CIQ_Log file under the <USB>\GARMIN\APPS\LOGS folder when connected to your computer.
  • Hermo - I'm running NF on the vahr with the 4.30 FW that just came out yesterday, and I'm not having the issue. I'm using the default settings.
