How to install and configure NoFrills

Please post any issues, questions and / or suggestions you have here and I will assist as best I can.

  • Your watch face is just what I was looking for on my new Fenix 5X.

When installed it runs for a few seconds on watch then the watch displays the blue gamin triangle on screen and nothing else.
It was happening with FW 2.5 & now 2.9

I have tried many different attempts at changing settings to see if there is something triggering the issue but no luck.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe something in the FW that needs to be fixed. There is a lot of issues being reported regarding fenix5x.
I will keep my eyes and ears open for more similar reports.
  • Hi. I'm having a small issue with the watch face on my Fenix3. I don't know when it started happening as I've just switched back to this face after using another for a while..

When I acknowledge an alarm of dismiss a notification the NoFrills face is replaced by the stock digital face & I have to navigate to an adjacent widget & back again for NoFrills to load again.

I'm running the latest F3 firmware & using the latest version of the watchface.

Haven't heard of similar reports like this.
Do you have a lot of apps installed? What does the available space / memory on your f3 look like?
  • Loving the simplicity of the design with lovely big numbers for easy vision.
    Thanks for your work.
Is there an option to modify the time colour itself from blue?

You can configure NoFrills with Garmin Express or Connect Mobile app. Watch the video on NoFrills's page to see how to do this.

Hi. I have maybe 12 apps installed and around 510KB free.
However I spotted your tip about restarting the watch yesterday and since then I haven't had the issue. Hopefully thats done the trick and it's all fixed. :)

Hi Hermo. I think I spoke too soon as the issue started again today. Initially it was following saving of an activity then it started happening when I dismiss an alarm/notification. In order to restore the watchface I have to scroll to another widget & back again.
I tried a reboot of the watch as before, but this time it is still happening afterwards. Cheers HD
  • still lags on my Vivoactive HR

Hi Hermo, don't know if you remember, but as I reported a few time ago your beautiful watchface still makes my VAHR lag when I scroll from it to closest widgets and when I scroll from them to watchface again, while it's snappy if I use any other watchface.
I still can live with, but i wish it was solved.

Thanks for a great watch face!
I noticed that when I update Settings using my phone, most of the times I get a message like "Network error, cannot update settings".
But if I move my wrist to put the watch in high power mode and then click Save, then the Settings update most of the time.
    I have a Forerunner 230.
This is the only watch face that has this behavior, all other watch faces update settings immediately and never get that error message.
    Anyone else seeing this?
(I'm trying to develop a watch face (I'm a newbie) and trying to understand how Settings work)

    Hi,

I apologise for the late reply.
I understand your frustration with the lag. Unfortunately it is a tradeoff between features, configurability and performance.
This watch face is regarded as an advance watch face due to its rendering of the progress level in the clock, as well as the multitude of configurable options.
I had another look at the code and the only way to improve would be to reduce the functionality quite a lot.
The watch face does perform better on the newer hardware like the f5 and 935.
Even my old 230 lags with NoFrills.
