With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • This is a workaround, however, changing the line colours changes all line colours, not just the lines that are below the middle bars, unless I have missed a setting to only change the colour of the lines below the middle bars

I'll keep it in mind, thanks.

  • Is it possible on the Dual Screen / Ultra to change the AOD font to be outline only, similar to the Big Easy watch face?
Right now, as far as I can see on the Dual Screen the AOD Time is with a solid font and I can't see any option to configure it.

Not at the moment. BIG EASY changes fonts to outline out of necessity - if too many pixels are on during AOD, Garmin turns the screen off. Glance Ultra doesn't have this problem - fonts are smaller, so even the bold ones do not trigger Garmin's threshold.

Perhaps this could be added to the Ultra as an option anyway. I wouldn't mind having it as I kind of like how it looks on the BIG EASY's AOD display and in addition to that it will save a tiny little bit of extra battery power not having to light up the inner pixels Slight smile

Possible, I'll keep it in mind. I don't think it saves the battery though - I tried completely black screen in AOD and didn't see any noticeable difference. It looks like only disabling AOD saves battery.

    I understand.
I guess, I should then disable the option to lower the brightness in the AOD if only disabling the AOD has a significant impact on the battery. I wonder then why Garmin put a limit on the number of lit-up pixels to begin with. The one that you are hitting on the BIG EASE... Thinking

Well, anyway, if there is no noticeable impact on the battery, then I guess the only benefit would be a visual one, which is still good enough for me if you ever get around to implementing it as a customization option. I like how it looks on the BIG EASY. Slight smile

I didn't notice any battery impact in my testing, but please test it yourself - things might have changed, or it might work differently on your watch model.

  • I have the big easy watch face for my Garmin Phoenix. When I got it, I went in and changed it to the font and colors that I like. However, it seems to go back-and-forth to the factory settings and then to the ones that I chose. In the factory settings, it has a no $message which I assume I need to pay for it. How do I do that?

    Hey,

I just bought the Ultra today.
While going through the app page I noticed that on one of your screenshots showing full screen AOD, you already have what I asked for. The Time font being only outline without the inner pixels.

    How can I achieve that?

Or is it that this is just how the Time font is, even outside of the AOD?

I am asking specifically for the Time font. I already know how to set up what glances show on the AOD screen.

In this case Outline font used in AOD is because it is used at all times. In Ultra it could have been any other font.

Right, so then it remains a feature request. To be able to choose the regular font for the regular screen and the Outline front for the AOD screen. Basically, to have a separate Time Font choice for the normal screen and for the AOD screen Slight smile
