With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5c0fe72b-f045-4366-a878-d3e67c600868

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Hello again,

One feature request for the Handy IQ from me as well.

For each of the metrics, there is usually some Text and an Icon, and we can choose the colour of each or choose a base or custom colour.

My request is to also have the option to turn off either the text or the icon (not only have both as it is now).
My use case is that I want to make an extremely minimalist setup and for some of the metrics, like the battery for example I would prefer to have either only the percentage or the icon(assuming the icon is dynamic ) if the icons are not dynamic, then I could have only the battery percentage text as a use case example.

As it is now, as a workaround, I could set the icon colour to black so it doesn’t show on my black background, but that only works on the top and bottom fields because the text is not centred and doesn’t look good in any of the other positions.

    Thanks!

    Great watch face!

  • It is certainly possible, but I struggle with choosing what to display instead of AM/PM (along with Status icons). What would you recommend?

To be honest, I like quite minimalist designs and from the status icons, I only really need the BT connection one and the clock one that shows me when I have an alarm set.
With the above in mind, I would just like to see only the status icons properly centred, depending on which field they are in, without anything replacing the AM/PM indicator.

I don't exactly understand how you want to center the text. It is already centered. Can share a picture of what you mean?

That said, this is not a common scenario, at least not for this specific app. Perhaps minimalistic design would better work in a dedicated minimalistic app. Please share your ideas and I'll consider it for future development.

  • You can use the workaround above:

This is true. I can set the metric colour to black and the AM/PM text disappears, but that only works okay-ish if I use it in the top and bottom fields, kind of. The reason is that the text is still there, I just can't see it, so the icons are not centred in the metrics field and look weird.

I understand. As I mentioned, that would be better served by a specialized app.

    Example.
Let's take the Battery percentage metric. If I want to display it, it displays the percentage text, for example, 56% and the battery icon.
I would like to have the option to disable the battery icon completely and only show 56% in that field.
Currently, this is not possible and that is why I said that as a workaround, I can set the icon colour to black, which is the same colour as my background and then the battery icon will be effectively invisible for me. However, it is still there, so the 56% text is off-centre in that metrics field and it looks weird.

What I mean by, I want to have the metric centred is not that it currently it is not centred. I know it is, but currently, what is centred is the combination of text and icon.
As part of my request, if you ever implement the option to actually remove the icon, as an option, and only display the text, then that text needs to be centred in the metrics field. That is what I meant.

I could try and draw up something a bit later if it is still unclear, but the main idea is to have the option to only display the metric's text, without the icon, if the user chooses to.

I am not a programmer and don't know how a specialised app would integrate with this watchface and implement that option, but I guess that is for you to figure out if you decide to do that at some point in the future .:)

    Thanks for responding.

I understand, no need to draw. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind.
