With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5c0fe72b-f045-4366-a878-d3e67c600868

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • I apologize that I’m not really tech smart. I love your Glance face but want the white background instead of the black. How do I make that happen?

App settings (bars, metrics, colors, and more) can be reviewed and changed in the Garmin "Connect IQ" app on your phone or in Garmin Express on a computer.
    Thanks

  • Announcement.

Another new app - BIG EASY IQ. A lot of time went into polishing the already great design of Easy Round and adding a bunch of new features allowed by latest SDK. Not all watches will support all features, but there is something new for all models. I am delighted with the results - the new watch face looks stunning on my AMOLED watches. Here are some new features:

    - Option to save and restore User Color Themes (in Watch Face - Customize menu)

    - New stock color themes

    - Some new metrics

    - 10 new colors + Custom colors option

    - Gradient time fonts (on AMOLED watches only)

    - New gradient background options (on AMOLED watches only)

    - Selectable and scalable metrics font (supported on newer watches only)

For the first month BIG EASY IQ will be at the lowest possible introductory price, so don't wait too long. It is going to be an absolute hit. Here is the link:

The question is - should you upgrade if you already bought BIG EASY? Short answer - at this price, yes, it is a no brainer!

Here is a longer answer though:

    - If you have an AMOLED screen watch - buy it. The gradient look makes a huge difference, plus with custom colors you can make it really unique.

    - Scalable metric fonts might not work on some low level models, but it is not a deal breaker. All main high end watches support it - Fenix 7, 8, all Epix, Forerunner 965, Venu 3, Approach S70, MARQ 2, etc.

    - If you have an older MIP watch, like Fenix 6, Forerunner 245 or 255, then all you get is custom colors, more stock colors, and ability to save user color theme. Saving color themes makes it worth the upgrade in my opinion - here is your chance to get the app at a steep discount )).

I know you will love it. Thanks!

  • Looks very neat.
I bought the Glance Ultra, so hopefully some of these improvements will find their way to the Glance faces at some point.

I am looking at the screenshot of the Big Easy IQ and noticed that the middle progress bars have icons on the right showing what they are actually showing next to them - battery and floors in the case of the screenshot. I would love to see that come to the Glance Ultra at some point. It will make those bars much more easily recognizable. Right now, even I, who actually configured them sometimes, need a split second to remember which bar was which metric Joy

  • Looks amazing. Off to buy. I know I’ve asked before. But if the time is the only thing on screen when AOD is activated any reason why we can’t have a solid font? Other watch faces seem to be able to apply dimming instead of restricting the font face?

You can have solid font if you select Thin font. Otherwise Big fonts trigger "too many pixels in AOD" and Garmin turns off AOD all together for that app.

Yes, I'm planning to add scalable metric fonts to Ultra.

Added to my TODO list. It is a real struggle to place icons for bars though, so it will probably be for the middle bars only.

    Thank you!
Every little bit helps. Even if you start with the middle bars, that would still be a great improvement for me.

And if at some point in the future you figure out a way to add to the top and bottom bars in a way that looks good, then even better. Slight smile
