EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Garmin doesn't provide Tide data natively. It would be a task for a separate project.

  • There are still watchfaces that provides Tide data, f.e. Centurion. They use api from stormglass.io. User need an api-key. Works fine.

  • I didn't say it is impossible, it is just hard to fit into the current projects and provide wide compatibility (due to memory restrictions on older devices). Hence, it would be a task for a new app, if I decide to make one.

  • Wanted to share the great news.. Looks like peeps are starting to include the CGM data field.  WatchFace Fallout now has it.  Still like yours a little more!!! So let me know if/when that happens.

Makes my life so much easier now.. Love this Garmin.

  • Please add a standby screen with only date and time. It will extend the battery time. I deleted lot of datafields but I have a feeling it still consumes more battery on my fenix than other samw lookBeerg watchfaces. BeerBeer

  • Great job! Love the watchface, but I'm having a problem. I have the BigEasy MobileDriveway and I'm trying to display the temperature in the bottom field. Unfortunately, I'm seeing "NO $".

I'm perfectly happy to pay for the data, if i knew who to pay and how?

    Thanks again!

  • I read about that some days ago. Some of the watches has no connection to the garmin weather. If that is your case, you have to register and use the openweather api for that. Description you can find in the FAQ or in the description from the watchface. You will get the openweather api access in 2hours which you have to insert in the watchface Settings. Something like 1000 api use /day is free that will be more than enough I think.

If you not bought the pro version from the app, you can just do it it is also in description from the watchface.

    BR.

  • Hi, would you be so kind to reveal some technical details about switching to second screen functionality?

I'm trying to implement the same in my own watchface. I store timestamp in onEnterSleep() and compare it with the current timestamp in onExitSleep() and do the switching, if the duration is short. This works fine except for one thing: whenever I exit to complication and return back to watchface or go to system glances loop and return back quickly enough, my WF switches to another screen, as onEnterSleep()/onExitSleep() is called when my WF goes off the screen and shows again. I tried to nullify timestamp in onHide() to avoid that, but it doesn't work, as onHide() doesn't seem to be called.

Could you, please, tell, how do you overcome this?
