Watchface: Glance

NEWS UPDATE:

With introduction of Garmin Pay, I am starting to add a new payment option for some of my apps. The system is not flexible enough to just add Garmin Pay to existing apps, so I'll publish a copy of an app, with the same functionality but Garmin Pay as the payment provider.

The first one out is Glance Ultra (a copy of Glance Dual Screen):

EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/5c0fe72b-f045-4366-a878-d3e67c600868

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Hi there. The USD Pro payment page doesn’t work. Can you let me know how to get the pro code?

    www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_pro_store.html

Try opening the link on a computer. It works for me and a bunch of other people who paid today.

If you can't pay with PayPal, you can message me directly (through Contact Developer on app page) for alternative payment methods. Thanks

  • I can't figure out how to get seconds to show up on the AOD screen. What am I doing wrong?

  • I can't figure out how to get seconds to show up on the AOD screen. What am I doing wrong?

Seconds work only on MIP screens. Watches with AMOLED screen are updated once per minute in AOD mode, so it is impossible to update seconds there.

  • Hi MobileDriveway,

the watchface EASY ROUND is just what I was looking for for my Epix gen2 51. The efficiency in the usage of the screen is by far superior to any other native one. And almost everything I can think of is custimizable as I wish.

I would have some friendly suggestion/requests, not sure if they are feasible or if you can be interested in their development:

    - add an haptic feedback when switching between screen1 and screen2, and vice versa, and maybe also when switching back from screen2 to screen1 after the timeout

    - it would be nice to have also a metric with current, min and max temperature in the day, in the same metric.

    - would it be possible to use the first two timezones set in the clock, including abbreviations, instead of having to specify two independent offsets in the watch facet setting?

    - perhaps an option to change the orientation of fields 2, 4, 6, and 8 from horizontal to radial

I checked quickly the Garmin SDK and it looks to me that getting the text of the appointment is something the SDK itself do not allows. Also official native faces do not show this feature, they only show the next appointment time. Can you confirm this from your experience?

Thank you again for your great job.

  • FYI - haptic feedback is impossible in watch face apps at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions.

  • This is my absolute favorite watch face. The only thing I can think of for a future update improvement might be if the notification bubble turned solid when there are notifications and clear when there are no notifications. Sometimes it's hard to read the number above the bubble and this would make it much easier when glancing at the watch.

Thanks for the great watch face!
    Scott
  • Hey guys, great watch face. For me, the move bar seems to stay full and won’t go down - any thoughts on that?

  • Ps the battery bar is always full too

Check bar's color 1 and color 2 settings. Same goes for battery bar. More info in the FAQ.

  • I have Glance Pro. I want to be able to show primary time in 12 hour format (am/pm), but I'd like to display a secondary time (UTC +0) in 24 hour format. Is there any way to do this?
