EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Sorry if I'm not using accurate terms.

I mean the data from these (the 2nd screen appearing when pressing "start" on the first)

The problem occurs both in "stress level %" when displayed as both bar and as a numeric field.  I expect the numeric field value to fluctuate one or two numbers every couple of seconds (just like the heart rate does, and the Garmin stress shown in the pictures above.)

  • Your pictures show the glance widgets...

Garmin provides Stress level to the 3rd party apps only as a history. The Stress level history is updated by Garmin every 5 min or so. It is absolutelly impossible for my (or any other) app to get the current value "every second". Your pictures show Garmin native widget - it uses some internal data that is not exposed to 3rd party apps. There are plenty of examples like this with other features too.

  • Unfortunately Garmin's WFs are terrible and to make it worst they don't allow 3rd party's to display real-time data. It's same for altitude etc... Weird Garmin behaviour.......

  • Do you plan to add next sun event (really next day's sunrise after today's sunset) to Glance as you did it in Big Easy? There it works fine meanwhile.

  • Hello MobileDriveway.

On my Fenix 7 Solar after the recent software update 9.37, my Big Easy face weather widget is not working.

I have it set to OWM and 30 minutes refresh interval but a NO $ and a alien face showing up. I tried: on and off, start a excercise activity with GPS, restarted the phone, update the watch face to v1.3 .. all that I know could fix.. but is not working.

Additionally, the color theme string has never appeared either.

Any info you can share with me? Do you want me to send you a printscreen of the weather issue?

    Thank you!.

    Regards,

  • Thanks for explaining the limitations we're working with!  Garmin really needs to lift their game for 3rd party integration support!

You guys have no idea how many Garmin issues I have to deal with on daily basis Frowning2

Please check the app description. Weather is a paid metric. You trail period ended, so now you need an unlock code to use it.

Yes, Glace Pro, Glance Dual Screen, and BIG EASY were updated yesterday. The free Glance Watch Face sunset algorithm was tweaked (to switch at midnight), but not changed to "next event". That is a trap of supporting multiple languages that I can't translate myself.

Also, all above apps now support MARQ 2 watches. Glace ProGlance Dual Screen, and BIG EASY also got a new metric: "Day of the week (separate from DATE field)".
