EASY Round

GLANCE WATCH FACE app won THE BEST NEW WATCH FACE APP OF 2022 ! At the Developers conference Garmin announced nominees and winners for the best apps in different categories. Glance Watch Face was nominated and won in the best new watch face category Slight smile! Garmin didn't post the video from the conference yet, but it was already reported by other websites: https://the5krunner.com/2022/10/12/garmin-app-watchface-of-the-year-2022-ciq-winners-and-nominees-announced/

The idea for this app is simple:
- Use only large fonts, so that all data are visible at a glance (hence the name of the app: Glance   )
- Put as much data on the screen as possible, without sacrificing font size above
- Make all data fields customizeable to your needs
- Make colors customizeable as much as possible, so users can create their own design

The "Glance Watch Face" app is 100% FREE - no hidden restrictions, nagging, or expiration:

There is also a mostly free app - BIG EASY: apps.garmin.com/.../86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8

There are also two paid versions of this app - "Glance Pro":

and "Glance Dual Screen":

Paid versions are identical to the free version (so no worries, FREE doesn't mean bad!), but have a lot of extra features features:

  • Open Weather Map support
  • Setting for TIME font weight
  • New way to use shared color themes
  • Support for many new metrics (like Body Battery, Stress Level, and lots more)
  • Extra progress bars and Graphs (in Dual Screen only)
  • Two separate data screens (in Dual Screen only)
  • A lot more - see apps description for the full list
  • You have an opportunity (and a small incentive) to support the development Slight smile

Unique feature of the Glance apps - you can save your own Color Themes and quicly switch between them righ on the watch.

NEW: Now you can SHARE your Color Theme! You can also quickly apply Color Themes shared with you. Here is a full description of how it all works: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance.html#color

Here is the current Color Themes Gallery: https://www.mobiledriveway.com/glance_gallery.html

Color themes are compatible between "Glance" and "Glance Pro" (except for "inactive status icons color", which became obsolete in "Pro").

I'd love to see all color combinations you came up with. Please post your themes in the Reviews and I'll add them to the gallery!

Questions and suggestions are welcome!

  • Announcement:

    Hi All,

Another watch face app is joining the family - BIG EASY.

    https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/86ec352b-da01-4806-8972-770c6d32a5e8#0

Once I created fonts I am happy with, I decided to experiment with an oversized TIME. The look is catchy (if you like the big fonts).

This app is designed to MAXIMIZE TIME fonts with many weight and style font options. Color theme customization is taken to the MAX too - practically every element on the screen can be assigned the color you want - even a ":" colon in the time!

All metrics are also using maximum font size possible. Also, Metrics can provide double information with the DUAL SCREEN option - switch to a second set of bars and metrics with a simple wrist gesture (same as Glance Dual Screen).

Feature wise, the new app is similar to Glance Pro and Dual Screen. To keep the support for all devices (memory limitation), some fetures were removed:

    • Graphs removed
    • Saved color themes removed

    All other metrics are present.

BIG EASY app is FREE to use with all essential metrics. Some metrics (full list below) require an "unlock code" purchase. You have 7 days to test all metrics without a purchase. After that the app will still work, but it will show "No $" message in paid metric fields (only if you use them).

Exclamation For a short time introductory price for the unlock code is $1.99 (or €1.99 if you prefer).

    List of paid metrics:

    • All Weather related metrics
    • Body Battery, Stress Level
    • Time to Recovery
    • Battery in Days
  • looks good, but does it no longer have the upper and lower arc scales available?

  • looks good, but does it no longer have the upper and lower arc scales available?

With big font, there is no space for arc bars - only middle bars are available. However, with Dual Screen you have 4 bars - should be enough for most users!

  • looks nice. i'm not entirely sold on the seconds being far removed from the hours and minutes. it seems (but i could be mistaken) that there is enough space to put the seconds alongside the large hours and minutes using the fontsize that exists for the large hours and minutes. might be nice to have the option to choose that.

  • Looks nice! Maybe it would be an option to make the behavior of the notification box as it is on Glance: Only show it if there are messages. 0 messages = no box. At least it's inverted now when 0 so it doesn't irritate much.

  • I don't like seconds being away from the time either, but that is a drawback of using large time font. Original Glance is ideal space, placement, and balance wise. That is why it was so difficult for me to create something else - anything else is simply not as good!

  • I had notification box behave the same way, but it left there a space that didn't look balanced. That is why I use empty notifications box now.

  • at least with the way i'm using it (no colon) it does seem there is enough space to put the seconds in line with the hours and minutes, but maybe i'm wrong. (this of course would mean the hr/min are not centered, but i don't see that as a problem).

another idea for you to consider : allow the option to put the seconds in the lower right data field so it's at least closer to hours and minutes, but admittedly, this may not look right visually due to the lack of symmetry.

anyway, keep up the great work. this new face is close to something i was going to suggest to you a while ago: bigger time and slim down the data field space.

also, one more thought: one of my all time favorite faces is JBlack which i bought many years ago. i still like it, but the developer hasn't kept up with the latest fields like body battery. he created a taller/skinnier font which allows for a very big Hr/Min and seconds all in one line.

  • On my FR245 there isn't space for seconds, even without colon. I'm glad that the time is symmetric and looks balanced.

  • Somehow the sun events are messed up. After sunset it showed 7:21 for the next sunrise (Glance showed 7:20, but that's wrong, that was the sunrise from the morning). Now after midnight it shows 7:20. I guess at 2:00 it will go back to 7:21. Well, these few minutes aren't so important, I just noticed that change. I don't really need sunrise, sunset is more important for me because in most cases I run later the day. Wherever I look up sun event times I see different times anyway.
