HMs DIY #1-6

Store Link

Because I want to keep this datafield and the app free for use I would be very grateful about a small donation to PayPal

A detailed description of how to use it can be found here:

Thanks very much to mcinner1 for putting so much time into this documentation!

Designer download

You can contribute on my github page.
You can upload your layout so others can use it as well.
Also any changes to the fonts.txt can be updated there as well.

  • And here is a little extra hint:
    In the examples-collection which is included in the download there is an example for dynymic-colored pace for watch FR935 called example_FR935_pacer.xml

  • @toc  (from that thread:  https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/f/showcase/211703/error-message-on-the-edge-explore  )

    1) I can confirm that there is a problem in the designer-tool for Edge Explore - black work-space, even if a white rectangle filled is set.

    2) You can use "Edge 1000 / Explore" as device in the designer. It's the same screen-resolution 240x400..

    3)  Concerning the error when loading a design with text:
    You should release your XML-code so we can check.
    One of the reasons could be a "strange" character in one of your texts...

  • Hi

    The picture for the edge explore was not transparent inside. Will be fixed in the next release.

    regards

    Erich

  • Here's the code:

    Test.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <DIYLayout>
        <Device name="Edge 1000 / Explore"/>
        <LayoutElement type="1" color="FFFFFF" x="0" y="0" x2="240" y2="160" eletype="RF" valuetype="FX" radius="1" stroke="1" nr_values="1"/>
        <LayoutElement type="1" color="000000" x="17" y="17" x2="40" y2="40" eletype="RC" valuetype="FX" radius="1" stroke="1" nr_values="1"/>
        <LayoutElement type="0" color="000000" x="98" y="80" fixedtext="true" eletype="FX" text="Large" font="LARGE" halignment="1" precision="0" nr_values="1"/>
    </DIYLayout>

    Thanks in advance !

  • Hi

    Just uploaded version 2.1.8. Edge explore should work now, also in the designer. You will have to update both to version 2.1.8.

    regards

    Erich

  • Just released another minor update. Found 2 problems in the crash reports and fixed them.

    Version 2.1.9

  • That was fast work !!

    I can confirm that the 2 issues regarding the Edge Explore:
    - black screen in the designer
    - Error messege when using text and/or digits

    both are resolved.

    Thank you very much.

  • Just uploaded a new version 2.2.0 to clone #4.

    Designer:

    http://public.stattegg.info/HM_DIYD_2.2.0.zip

    2.2.0
    * new graphic element: arc
    Start angle is the 3 o'clock position. Direction is clockwise
    * new value: free memory
    Because I cannot predict how much free memory there is, I added the field
    to show a roughly estimate how much memory is free during testing of your layout.
    There should be at least 200 bytes free after starting the timer.
    Be aware that using the pacer will use about 800 bytes more after starting the timer!!
    How to use: Just place the textfield anywhere visible on your layout, copy the layout to your device, open the datafield and start the timer.
    If there is at least 300 bytes left after some minutes, your are on the save side. You can then remove the text field from your layout of course.

    Thanks for any testing.

    regards

    Erich

  • Speaking of temperature, can I display temperature in Fahrenheit? And while we're at it, can I display speed in MPH and not KPH and distance in Miles and not Kilometers? My EDGE 1030 is all setup statute/Fahrenheit. so it ain't that!! This may have been mentioned before but how to find it?

    I'm new to what seems to be a new Garmin forum and it seems goofy. Can't search in one thread? Can't get to the bottom of a thread without scrolling down all the way every time you come here? Replies to a specific post just go to the bottom of the entire thread? Maybe it works better on a phone? Or what....?

  • Hi

    I know, the forum software is really bad, not very intuitive.

    Regarding units: Sorry, but I will definitly not support the imperial system.

    Regards

    Erich
