Because I want to keep this datafield and the app free for use I would be very grateful about a small donation to PayPal

A detailed description of how to use it can be found here:

  • Thanks.

I will confirm tomorrow 100% that that is the issue when I go for a ride in "Kilometers".

I did try today changing my activity profile to one that uses a "DIY" app using Km's for events and also changing the Edges settings to KM's just to confirm what I think is wrong but it does not work that easily. I discovered a long time ago that any 3rd party app will only show what the unit of measurement is at the point of pressing the "Start Button" at the point of starting to ride. To change the unit of measurement, you have to stop the ride, save it, and then start a new ride with the changed unit of measurement. All it did today when I changed to KM's was all the datafields still showed the distances, speeds etc in miles and the "Distance to Start" field just showed "0" for the rest of the ride, but the "Direction to Start" arrow still pointed to the "Start".

  • Each newly started activity sets the starting point to the point at which you started the activity (which is to be expected) Rofl

  • Yes, I know that, I have not said anything that contradicts that, but what I did not make clear was, I just tried to change my activity profile from the one that I was using which was in miles to an activity profile that was in Km mid ride hoping it would confirm what the error probably is but just left the activity running. But I have known for a long time that a third party app will not switch from miles to km or vice versa during a running activity and will only display what the unit of measurement was at the start of the activity. Garmin datafields though will make the switch.

This is a little unknown trick which I tell people who want to have have both Miles and Kms showing in a Garmin data page, if they want miles to be the predominent display but also want to be able to see KM as well, have a 3rd party app showing distance, speed etc, distance remaining etc installed into a Garmin datafield, start the activity with the Edge settings in KM, this will start the 3rd party app and the Garmin datafields in KM, and before starting to ride, change the settings in the Edge to miles from KM and then this will switch the Garmin datafields to miles and leave the 3rd party app still using KM for the duration of the activity.

This is why I do not have any coordinates set in the "DIY app such as where I live and start virtually all my rides as I would have to delete them or change them when I do an event that will finish at the start and as you say, new coordinates are set when you start a new activity. If the Finish is not at the start, then I would have to set the Finish Coordinates in the app, but its very rare for me to start and finish in two different locations.

  • Had a quick test ride in KM's to confirm the issue and it is, "Distance to Start" only works in Kilometers and not Miles. At no point, did "Distance to Start" be more than "Distance to Destination" apart from a little "U shaped" loop at the beginning and end of the ride. A couple of screenshots at two points on the ride and corresponding distances measured from "Mapsource" as near as I can and both agree with each other: -

On the first two pictures you have to go by the distance ridden as I still have a big loop to do before turning for home.

On these two, you go by Distance to destination as I am on my way home

  • Hello!, Is there a way to:

    1. Get "current lap cadence" data?
    2. Get "left and right balance" from a bluetooth power meter?
    3. Get workouts intervals time and remaining intervals?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Unfortunately

  • When will this app be enabled for the new Fenix 8 and Enduro 3 devices? Thanks and regards.

  • There is no such value "distance to start". To which value are you referring to?

  • New version 3.7.1 is available:

    https://public.stattegg.info/HM_DIYD_3.7.1.zip

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    3.7.1
    * switched to new SDK 7.3.0
    * added devices: Enduro 3, fenix 8 Solar 47mm, fenix 8 Solar 51mm, fenix 8 43mm, fenix 8 47mm / 51mm, fenix E

  • There is no such value "distance to start". To which value are you referring to?

He means the value „distance to coordinate“ which can be set to start point using graphic element „arrow“.

This value apparently is always set to kilometer and not dependent of device settings (miles).
