You can contribute on my github page.
You can upload your layout so others can use it as well.
Also any changes to the fonts.txt can be updated there as well.

  • I also think it's not possible - which is a shame for the expensive Edge devices.
I use my 1030 not only for biking but also for walking and other activities - lately I used it during a ski tour.
That all worked but at the end every activity is a "bike activity" for Garmin (and cannot be changed) Angry

  • Ok, but you have to admit, for hiking, running and skiing it is an unhandy device.

What brings us to ask HM to open more clones. Not now, but maybe later - especially if he continues constantly to release new useful elements...

  • Hi I have worked with your last layout and is ok. I have only a problem with the field current gear. In your description you write the different gear and two more values. One of them I suppose would be the plate " 30" but the other "200" I have no idea.

This values must be introduced to in the IQ. If yes where?

To finish, this field is only for 1x...., no for 2x...., isn't it?

  • Speaking of new elements, I'm dreaming about triangle with dynamic position along a straight line like in  "Heart Rate Zones Chart" by ronnywinkler or along an ark like in this one:

  • You're really making an effort to make nice designs to start from. Thanks. The widths of the column zones are different - is this on purpose? Adapting for my Fenix 6.

  • The work you have done while I've been using the standard F6 fields is very impressive.

I can only think of two things I miss from the "original" DIY:

    • The live graph (columns) that move constantly from e.g. right to left that had the HR (or speed or anything else) where you could see the development in e.g. heart rate.
    • The ability to set more than one distances in the pacer in the configuration. I tend to run to fixed distances, and it was so nice that I did not have to change distances in the original DIY. It counted distance to finish up to the first number - and when I passed this, it would automatically calculate for the next distance.

I also miss other fields but since Garmin have not made them available, I would still need to use a standard screen as well for those.

  • The widths of the column zones are different - is this on purpose?

Different width of columns is necessary only, if you add a slider which is tied to current heart rate - as in my layout. My personal zones are like that:

As you can see: Zone 1 has a range of 22 bpm, Zone 2 has a range of 15 bpm, and so on... (The last Zone 5 I have trimmed in my layout, because I don‘t reach 195 bpm very often.)
If you set no slider (progress bar with current heartrate), there is no need to have different width of columns.

In my first approach of this layout I used fixed columns and a progress bar tied to Heartratezones, but this didn‘t work properly as Heartratezones deliver integers only and that makes no sense for a progress bar.

  • Got it. Thanks. Will verify how mine are and possibly update. You have done all the work but it needs to be adjusted to a small screen like on the Fenix 6

  • Yes, mate, it is more easy on a Edge 1030 display...

  • I have only a problem with the field current gear. In your description you write the different gear and two more values. One of them I suppose would be the plate " 30" but the other "200"

Sorry for being late with my answer...

Yes, 30 are the teeths of the chainring and 200 is the circumfence of the rear wheel!

And yes, thr formula makes sense only for a 1x gear system. It‘s hardly  possible for 2x and 3x, the results would be more estimations of the combo, and modern MTBs nowadays are 1x.

FYI: based on speed, cadence, chainring and wheel-circumfence can be calculated which of the known cogs are at work. This calculation works perfectly - but only when you are pedalling force-locked, otherwise Gears shows 0.
