Searching for the IQ purchase tokens link

I read somewhere that IQ purchase tokens are available for Devs to download from IQ.  I understand that there are are tokens that can be used to purchase your own Apps and give to testers that enable "Buying" your Apps without purchasing.

Can anyone point me to that link or email or explain how I can get these?  Thanks.

  • There's no real reason to be here.

Except that, as jim_m_58 said, there's no point in going where others won't follow.

Ppl have proposed/tried IRC, reddit, and discord in the past, and none of it took off. If we wanted to use a "modern" forum platform (like nodebb or discourse, both 10 years old at this point but still much better than this), someone would have to host it, and you still wouldn't attract users.

Ppl tried discussing Connect IQ on stackoverflow. Last time I checked, [https://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/connectiq] was a ghost town.

Sure, for general Garmin discussion, there's reddit.com/r/garmin, which is arguably a much larger and more vibrant community with a completely different vibe than these forums. As many pointed out, ppl mostly use these forums to complain or ask for technical help, whereas r/garmin is full of ppl flexing with screenshots of their VO2 Max or unboxing pics of their new Garmin watch.

Speaking of reddit, the CIQ subreddit is also a ghost town (last post: 3 years ago) https://www.reddit.com/r/connectiq/

To be fair, as popular as reddit is, many ppl have pointed out it's not exactly the best format to be used as a repository of information (although many use it for tech help nonetheless). Although it's not exactly social media, it has a lot in common with social media in the sense that only the newest and most popular content gets surfaced. (Hence all the VO2 Max screenshots and new watch unboxing posts)

(We have the opposite problem here where 10 year old threads are resurrected for no reason.)

  • You are exactly right.  Forum discussion posts should not look like Garmin direct communications.

  • The issue however, is that even if a spam post gets deleted from the forum, that post will likely, already have been sent out by Garmin, with Garmin wrtten all over it, with links back to this forum, etc., as an email to anyone in the discussion. In other words, Garmin facilitates these spam posts by sending the spam directly to registered forum users and validates it as an official Garmin communication, which it is.

The forum discussion updates emails should be clearly labelled as a forum discussion update from MemberXXX, etc., and not an official communication from Garmin.

This sort of thing should not happen.

  • If you go to settings for your login, you can turn off these emails.

  • I'll contact our IT team and see what we can do to mitigate this. Notifications are a feature of the forums, so I doubt those will go away, but I agree we should avoid things that make it look like the email is official Garmin communication.
