Searching for the IQ purchase tokens link

I read somewhere that IQ purchase tokens are available for Devs to download from IQ.  I understand that there are are tokens that can be used to purchase your own Apps and give to testers that enable "Buying" your Apps without purchasing.

Can anyone point me to that link or email or explain how I can get these?  Thanks.

  • As per https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/monetization/app-sales/...

If you are switching to the Connect IQ monetization system from a different monetization system, you can use this marketing form to request promotion codes to migrate users who have already purchased the app. These one-time-use codes allow existing users to purchase the app without additional cost. You are responsible for distribution of these codes.

...I think this is the link you are looking for: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ciq-dev-marketing-request/

The form at that link includes:

If you need additional support, try this email: [email protected]

Note that devs have mentioned it takes a long time to get codes, as it appears to be a manual process (at least last time I saw this discussed). The CIQ team has participated in these discussions, so at the very least, they're aware of the problem.

  • I filled in the form linked to above, and then 6 days later, I had this reply:

You can purchase IQ tokens on platforms like MEXC and Bitget. To buy, create an account, complete identity verification, and select IQ tokens for purchase. Payments can be made via credit card, bank transfer, or e-wallet. Always use secure and official platforms to avoid scams.

There appears to be a complete disconnect here.

  • Hmm that's strange. It's as if they finally implemented an automated way to get tokens, but forgot the part where the app dev obviously doesn't want to pay for their own tokens.

I guess you could send an email to [email protected] and ask them what's up.

Or maybe someone will reply in this thread.

EDIT: derp I should've realized this was spam in the first place

  • Very strange indeed.  Far for me to suggest to Garmin how to improve things, but why do Garmin not just allow purchases made my the logged in developer of those Apps, to be completed by not going through the payment cycle.

  • A Garmin employee on the CIQ team mentioned in the forums that Garmin is looking into a way for app developers to download their own monetized apps for free. You're not the first one to be frustrated by all of this stuff.

Good luck! I hope Garmin comes up with something soon.

  • What email address did the sender send from?

  • It was sent to me using my valid IQ Merchant login email and my username.  Nowher on the form was there a place to enter your email as a check.

  • This was spam, and I deleted it as soon as I spotted it. Please ignore that message—it was not from a Garmin. If you see any other messages like that, please let me know.

  • It seems more than coincidence that after I filled in the Garmin IQ form above that I received thatspam  email response.  Are you saying you deleted that spam reply from the Garmin system? Or is the https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ciq-dev-marketing-request/ link posted above, a spam link through Garmin.

FYI I am still waiting to hear back with a non spam reply about tokens having filled in that form.

  • It must have been a coincidence. Garmin does not charge developers for promotion codes, and I am personally not familiar with MEXC or Bitget—I'm fairly confident Garmin has no association with either of these platforms. This was not a response from Garmin, but a spam post from some third-party (which is why it was deleted).

The marketing request form you linked to is not a spam link and is owned by the Garmin marketing team. They evaluate promotion requests and decide whether to grant promotion requests. I am not aware of the timeframe that is typically required to respond to such requests.
