Searching for the IQ purchase tokens link

I read somewhere that IQ purchase tokens are available for Devs to download from IQ.  I understand that there are are tokens that can be used to purchase your own Apps and give to testers that enable "Buying" your Apps without purchasing.

Can anyone point me to that link or email or explain how I can get these?  Thanks.

  • I think the coincidence above was meant to hint to your IT team to check for intrusion. Maybe someone knows when to send the scam/phishing email and to who...

  • I do hope the Garmin Marketing team are close to completing the evaluation of my request, because I just had another exact email from “the Garmin team”. See attached screenshot

  • Sounds to me like someone saw you were looking for tokens and sent you a scam email to try and get you to pay something.  I doubt that's really from Garmin

  • Interestingly, the go here link goes back to this discussion.  The Flag looks convincing and asks if the email is abusive, which it isn't really, so didn't proceed.

    Oh it's all clear now.

You didn't get an official email from Garmin or even an email (directly) from a scammer.

Someone (with a username of 7487400) replied to this discussion with spam, and you got an automatic email notification from the Garmin forums. Note that the name of email sender is Garmin Forums, not "Garmin" or "Connect IQ". (You should of course check the email address of the sender, as well.) Also note the text "Update from Garmin Forums"

That's a standard notification email that everyone gets when anyone replies to a discussion they've participated in or subscribed to.

Sorry I don't realize it was spam at first, I assumed you got an email from an official Garmin address that was not an automatic Garmin forums notification.

The cause for confusion is that the spam reply was deleted from the forums immediately, but you still got the email notification.

  • Good.  This now makes sense. The one above is the second email I had today.  The first was about 2 weeks ago, which I deleted.

  • Nevertheless this is a good example of low quality social engineering (and I'm not even sure the spammer thought about that email coming form "Garmin")

Yeah, but it does expose a problem where any response to a forum message will be sent as an email notification with a big, official-looking Garmin logo, from an email address using a *.garmin.com domain (I think).

It's easy to see how someone might think it's an official response from Garmin, if they're not aware it's just a forum notification.

This is one of those problems I have no idea how to solve.

A big informational banner at the top of the email explaining that this is not an official communication from Garmin, it's just a notification that Random Internet Spammer has replied to your post?

Or maybe prominent text at the top along the lines of "Someone replied to your Garmin Forums topic:".

And maybe remove the big Garmin logo.

  • Maybe the solution to this and most of the other forum issues is to do it the other way: Let's decide uppon a free, modern forum platform, and move there. There's no real reason to be here.

  • I guess you never use/reference the many other forums here, like the platform/SW forums.

There have been a number of attempts by devs to start another CIQ forum using different forum software and all have failed.
