No more LTH (Auto Detect)?!

So, Garmin solved the problem with LTH simply by not recording anymore LTH?!

I had no more LTH since 10 days....

  • Ehm, those 2 links don't really state the requirements though. Apart from a very generic 'enough data from a different range of intensities from high to low'...

Or how to perform a guided test, which is not the problem. The problem is the auto-detection.

Is there a page with SPECIFIC conditions activities have to adhere to in order to count into LTHR calculations and updates? (Like x intervals/time in anaerobic with y in aerobic or something?

  • I just hope that everyone who is upset that their LTH is not updated automatically, communicates with Sierra if she has reached out to them via email. I do. The more resources they have, the faster they can fix it.

  • It could be simple to fix it.

Untill mid january we had LTH detection working well, but not updating in GC. Between mid and end january both detection and uploading worked good..

Since february (my last LTH detection January 31st) both stopped

They have to look what they changed at the end of January and bring back previous situation

  • Guys. Where can I find the Lactate Threshold chart on the web interface? In the mobile application it is displayed in "Performance statistics" but on the web it is not.

  • Click on "Reports" (from the side bar on the left) --> "Running" --> "Lactate Threshold".

  • I have a Forerunner 945 and LT is automatically detected when you spend a few minutes in zone 2/3 and then a few minutes in zone 4/5.

Usually I go on a track, run a minute in zone 2, gradually increase the speed and stay a few minutes in zone 3. After that I spend a few minutes at the top of zone 4 and lower zone 5.

In my case it's about 1 km in zone 2/3 and then 1 km at the top of zone 4/5. You can also receive a LT update by going hard first and then slowing down and spend some time in zone 2/3. I don't think spending any/much time in zone 2 is necessary to trigger the update. I usually do it in about 10 minutes.

After the run it shows a screen to accept or decline the new stats. When the stats remain the same it updates automatically and you get a screen confirming your current LT pace and heartrate with a new date. A recent example can be found below.

  • Thank you. I haven't had an update on my 955 for months. (cant recall ever having one actually) The After the run it shows a screen to accept or decline the new stats you refer to , does it stay active until one makes a selection?

Today I used the 265 I am evaluating (see my thread on this Forum if that is of interest)

I did a hard (for me) pyramid session , see information below. I did not get an LT update on the 265 either.

    Thank for your insights!

  • If a new LT is detected a screen is shown with the new values and the user has the option to either accept or decline. You have to make a choice to return to the activity screen. When the stats remain the same as before a screen is shown that fitness was maintained, this screen is visible for a few seconds and the you return to the activity screen automatically.

Did you spend much time near 157 bpm? I would expect an update in the activity you have shared.

  • I owned a 945 and got a Lactate update every now and then. It was enough to run at a high heart rate. It just doesn't work on the 955/255, it doesn't work on the fenix 7 either. It must be some software update that isn't on the 945/Fénix 6.
