Inaccurate gps tracking after update 12.23 on FR 955

Hi guys!

After update 12.23 gps track has been disappointingly inaccurate.

Before update gps track was incredibly smooth!

What do you think?

Maybe opaque autumn clouds?

So given that FW12.23 has broken Sync for a lot of people...and some people complain that GPS sync is very slow now. Is it possible that CPE updates are broken or not syncing? This would explain both bad sync times and the reduced accuracy (the data the watch downloads from the actual satellites isn't as accurate as in the CPE file).

I just did a 6k run with FW12.23 and for me the gps accuracy is spot on at first glance. Before I started the run, I waited till the GPS signal was there and green. This took about 15-30sec.

I did an update, even with garmin Express, directly with the pc. So that, those files, must be updated.But even with this the track is not precise

The signal’s picking up really fast. I also wait a minute, after it turned green, to have more satellite accuracy, but nothing changes

I did some tests and with GPS on auto the GPS fix is fast (max 15 seconds) and the accuracy isn't different.

I can't help but notice you're located in Moscow. It's entirely possible, likely even, that you're suffering from deliberate state-sponsored GNSS disruption. Activity of that disruption may be different at different times simply based on perceived threat level.

It's well-established fact that Russia (and likely others) actively jam GNSS on a regular basis. https://www.rtl-sdr.com/mapping-gps-gnss-interference-through-ads-b-data/

John Wiseman has a website where you can actively look into where jamming/disruption is happening based on reported ADS-B data from planes flying, but I can't seem to find the address at the moment. Here's an example though: twitter.com/.../1544031843522973696

I wouldn't expect ideal GNSS performance where you are from ANY vendor, any time soon.

Alexander what day did you record that really good looking track? 8/21, 8/16, 8/14, 8/8-10 were all a bit quieter on jamming in Moscow, and just prior to the update. Of course, any time of day it could happen to be turned off for the moment.
