If anybody is curious about the new Track Run app in the latest beta, I got myself down to an actual track and gave it a go.
Here is what I found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOzCGeUi_1I
Must say was impressed by the results.

extensive track run testing:
i even headed a few times towards the outside of the track (8th lane) in order to grab the water - all good
I just came from my first run using track mode (the actual update, not beta) and I couldn't be more disappointed. It just sucked, period. I don't have issues with GPS, and I've ran millions of times in…
I reached out to you via Direct Message at basically the same time these posts were being made; before you try deleting that calibration file, can you follow the steps I sent you in the DM? Ultimately…
I ran 10 km tempo run with little variations... but it was not an interval session...
other workout done on the same track; saved another calibration activity in the warm up... but the issue still remains (see map attached). I used GPS + Galileo e always in Lane 1. The structure of the workout was simple: 14 x 400 m, 200 m rest....
Unfortunately it doesn't work well on my track, in below conditions.
I ran for 3 laps x 1600m = 4800m. I keep running on the 1st lane, at constant pace ~4:00/km. I use GPS + Galileo. I didn't calibrate my FR945 track mode.
1. the shape doesn't look good
2. first two lap the pacing was reasonable ~4:00/km, but on lap 3 it shows my pace was 2:05/km
if speed and distance comes from Stryd there is no difference between "track run" and the other "run" profiles when running with stryd. only the gps recording is exactly on track 1 (more or less)
a sample from a "track run": connect.garmin.com/.../5653831011
well besides the nice looking lines, you'll get accurate measurements :-). on several occasions i've seen 10 laps on the track being recorded as 4200m :-); regarding distance measurement - since it uses a predefined length and probably some algorithm besides gps (400m on lane 1, etc) i find it to be almost spot on, with regards to both pace and distance:
this activity was a 10k run and the watch recorded 10.011m :-) - so i would say that's very good...
