A $600 watch should have buttons that respond in a way in which the user can tell that the press was registered, whatever that means. In this particular case, if I'm running and press the lap key, I shouldn…

1 Day Later on Retailer Replaced Unit
Summary: Still good
Details:
Use: Light Use (Configured, Charged), Not wearing yet, No Activities Yet
Weather: 70s Not Humid
Status: No Change (G,G,G,G,G), Buttons All Good, but still perceiving some minor sticking on initial press after hours of no use (buttons do actuate though and click, just not as smoothly as second+ presses, feels like a little more force is required - same as out of box).
Humidity will return here this weekend and I plan to take it running tomorrow or Friday, so I will know were I stand after that I think.
Fix: I had the same problem with all 5 buttons but was able to fix it. It seemed, the buttons were tightly sealed in and needed help to loosen up. To fix it, I have pressed the button firmly with tip of my fingernail at the button edge; and while maintaining the pressure slid my nail over the button's edge, to let the button quickly 'spring out' from fully pressed to fully retracted position. Repeating this 3 or 5 times per button has fixed it and all buttons now work fine.
3 Days Later on Retailer Replaced Unit
Button Summary: Still good, but sometimes minor sticking on first press after hours of not pressing
Details:
Use: Wearing to work, No Activities Yet
Weather: 60-70s Not Humid
Status: No Change (G,G,G,G,G), Buttons All Good, but still perceiving some minor sticking on initial press after hours of no use (buttons do actuate though, but do not necessarily click, ... same as out of box).
About to go out for first run with this unit ...
Got a fairly prompt response from Garmin Support...shipping it back for a replacement, tomorrow.
I have my 945 for 5 days now.
The START/STOP button behave different then the rest of the button. The first time you press it has this mush feel, not clicky. If you press again, then its clicky. After a few hours, it is mushy again.
It has 2.10 firmware and my serial is # 5Z601XXXXXXXX.
Anyone knows why it behave like this?
So to update, it definitely still works after cleaning it the way I did. That said, I have noticed that all of the buttons are a bit sensitive about how they are pressed in. If I am not pushing them straight in (such as if my finger is on the edge of the button) then it does not click although it will generally activate. This is true for all five buttons, although I find that the up button is the one I most often have this issue with - probably because of the way I hold the watch when I am pressing the buttons.
I do really like the watch features compared to my 935, but I'm not 100% on the buttons yet. I need to find someone near me who has the 945 so I can compare the feel of my buttons to theirs to really know if mine are normal or not.
