Garmin Venu 2 sensors not working (heart rate shows as "--", Indicating it is not detecting arm)

Hi. I bought a Venu 2 about a year ago. Recently the sensors just stopped working. I have gone through all the troubleshooting, including a full reset, making sure the app/watch was up-to-date, ensuring my settings were enabled. No light comes on at all, neither green nor red. If I try to do a health snapshot, it just says that arm is not detected.

Sometimes when I reset the watch is comes back on.

For context, the steps, the floors, the notifications, the calorie counter -- those are all still working. It's only the heart rate, stress, and sleep that aren't tracking.

My question -- has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how did you resolve it? Are there any known issues with Garmin and Android?

  • Having the same issue here, have to reboot the device, and restart my activities which is a pain after few km out and found the heart rate not working.  any idea when will the live software release will be rolled out.

  • Same issue here, I'm using the watch for running mainly and it loses HR after first few seconds of the training.

Hard reset does not solve anything.

Garmin, when can we expect a solution?

  • I am having the same problem with my Garmin Venu 2S, which is less than a year old. Heart rate sensor works when not in activity mode, but stops working within about a minute after starting an activity like walking. The heart rate will then show as “- -“.
I am an experienced Garmin product user, and have tried al the fixes suggested in forums. Hard Reset sometimes works and other times doesn’t. This problem has become consistent enough that I plan to make a claim with Garmin.

  • Hello, I have version 14.10 on my Venu 2 plus and I am experiencing the same problems. Sensors are not working and I have tried all possible solutions and nothing fixes the problem. I get a message on my watch that reboot is required to use the sensors, but when I reboot the watch, nothing seems to change.

    - 11.00.07
May we access your Connect account?
    - Yes
Does this only occur during activity or both in and outside of activity?
    - Both, plus I've have been having dozens os problems.
Which activity profile are you using? Does it occur in other activity profiles?
    - No matter what I do, it's been acting up and my watch is pretty much useless now.
    When did this first occur?
    - Since the first update released in June (v14.07). Before the forementioned infamous update, it was working perfectly and I was extremely happy with my watch. Please refer to my post on it: forums.garmin.com/.../battery-drains-fast-and-venu-2s-shuts-down-by-itself-when-trying-to-save-an-activity

  • I enrolled in the beta to get the software advertised here as resolving the issue, and I can report back that after recording another hike, that the issue was resolved.  I did get another beta push this morning, so I'm assuming its still fixed at this point (I left the beta group for now to avoid more updates.)

My only feedback to Garmin after dealing with two software issues on two different Venu 2 watches would be to please allow users to opt-out of forced software updates for this device line.  I'd rather stay on a stable software version, and choose to update if there is a new feature, etc that I want than to be forced to update and maybe run into software glitches again.

  • Hey, when can we expect the update for heart rate sensor and battery drain?

    Thanks!

  • This should be resolved in the 15.10 Beta.
