Garmin Venu 2 sensors not working (heart rate shows as "--", Indicating it is not detecting arm)

Hi. I bought a Venu 2 about a year ago. Recently the sensors just stopped working. I have gone through all the troubleshooting, including a full reset, making sure the app/watch was up-to-date, ensuring my settings were enabled. No light comes on at all, neither green nor red. If I try to do a health snapshot, it just says that arm is not detected.

Sometimes when I reset the watch is comes back on.

For context, the steps, the floors, the notifications, the calorie counter -- those are all still working. It's only the heart rate, stress, and sleep that aren't tracking.

My question -- has anyone else experienced something similar? If so, how did you resolve it? Are there any known issues with Garmin and Android?

  • How do we sign up for the 15.10 Beta? Thanks!

  • As a follow up, for me this issue was resolved in the 15.09 beta.

But I'm a bit confused about the SW release cycle. 15.11 Beta was released two days ago and now the final non-beta 15.11 SW is already available for download. How could you possibly have had enough time to properly test this software to avoid releasing a similar bug to the public again? Plus, there are already two open bug reports for the beta version of 15.11. Or is the released 15.11 version not based on 15.11 beta?

Is there any way to avoid automatically updating the watch when a new software is available? I really don't want to have a buggy watch again.

  • I've been on software version 15.11 for about a week or so now. The problem with loosing heart rate reading when turning energy saving mode on and off has been resolved for me. Also, there is a once again a vibration when the health snapshot is done. BUT since the update I'm unable to connect the watch to my headphones... I can still connect them to any other device except for my watch. So at the moment I can't go running while listing to music which is pretty annoying. Weirdly enough, when I tried to connect to my headphones and already had my HRM connected, I would also loose connection to my HRM and was unable to reconnect unless I restarted my watch...

It really is becoming ridiculous, Garmin. For almost 2 months we've been unable to use our fitness devices properly. This is unacceptable and most certainly not what I have paid for.

  • I am having the very same problem with the 14.10. I start running, and after a few minutes heart rate turns off until i stop the activity and/or restart the device.

  • I bought a brand new Venu s2 two days ago.  Today I played golf with it for the first time and it did not display or record my heart rate for the whole round.  I am on Software version 14.10 which updated this morning.  It is very important that I am able to view my heart rate as I have health issues.  Even my old Approach X40 could manage this.  How can this be fixed please?

  • Please update the software of your watch. As this was resolved in the 15.10 software version. If you continue to have trouble, please start a new thread.
