My wifes 6s Pro also keeps rebooting between 60 and 90 minutes into the activity. Music on as well.
Hello everyone.
Got my Fenix 6x Pro from this tuesday. Did 3 runs using the watch, so far everything went great.
Run 1 - no problems (no music, only original watchface, no IQ store data fields)
Run 2 …
I've opened a report for this 10 days ago. Just got a response from Garmin with the following:
"Thank you for providing the link to the forum. At this point we would want to try a master reset, but…
Does it happen every time for your wife?
My last crash was 14 days ago back on 21.00
No crashes since with 21.71 alpha and now 21.80 beta and I use music typically 3 times a week
After the update to v21.00 the crashes started. We then tried to pinpoint the issue as she also uses a Stryd with the stryd power zones CIQ App. We first thought this might be an issue because Connect IQ was updated as well but the watch crashes also without using stryd app. So it must be related to music. She didn't update to Alpha or Beta. But as 21.80 is now puclic release we'll update and try again.
Hello everyone.
Got my Fenix 6x Pro from this tuesday. Did 3 runs using the watch, so far everything went great.
Run 1 - no problems (no music, only original watchface, no IQ store data fields)
Run 2 - no problems (music uploaded to the watch memory from PC, GPS route tracking, no IQ store data fields)
Run 3 - Soo this run lasted 1hr 20mins. I also listened to music from the watch memory, and I was also tracking a route that I previously synced to the watch via GPS. Aside from that I installed the Fat Burner data field and had it on display during the run. At about 57 minutes into the run BOOM, blue Garmin Triangle - watch randomly rebooted. When the reboot ended I could continue the run, no data was lost (except of training results as it later turned out), but the Fat Burner data field was no longer there (it was replaced by a stoper).
This got me thinking that the problem lies in the Fat Burner data field. Could it be ?
BUT after reading this thread I assume that it also might be the music app... I will update to 21.80beta and we will see.
Same happened to me twice. On 21.00 amd later on 21.80. Happens after saving running workout whilst listening to music using builtin player.
Most of the fellas here encountered the issue during an activity, while listing to music. That is, not after saving the workout.
This might be true. For me both of the crashes happened on longer runs after 55min or so, shorter runs were OK. Does this mean that even without workout the watch will crash after some time when listening to music?
The correlation might be workout AND music. Using just one, my wife couldn't provoke the crash so far, even with activities longer 2h.
I am wondering if the seeming correlation with music is a coincidence?
There have been several crash reports on the forums in recent days and on another thread they did not run with music (I asked)- they had a 6 (non pro so no music). Other people have seen crashes just accessing:the sleep widget and I saw a crash changing a workout target from Watts to HR (no music)
Correlation doesn't equal causation - looks to me to be a wider problem.
Many people have similar issue, my question is: Why does Garmin staff don't look into it? Is anyone from Garmin even reading this? It is not hardware but firmware. Garmin please check it out.

Because its easier to ask people to do a device reset than actually actively investigate? ;)
Too be fair, a Garmin employee did reply on the 21.80 beta thread for this bug
(only 1 upvote so if you want Garmin to look at this, get upvoting)
