Corrupted swim files

Seems to happening with increasing frequency now. As soon as I ended my swim the screen went straight to the blue triangle screen. I've also had times in the past where it shows up in Garmin connect as a multisport event - with just a swim. Garmin Connect, Strava and TrainingPeaks don't recognise the file. Garmin support have not been helpful over email. Going to call tomorrow.

I cannot click into the activity data on the watch and the swim icon just has a dotted line icon instead of being filled in and blue.

Any one else experiencing this issue?

yep, big thanks to Mathias Thumbsup

    happy & safe sporting

  • just a small head up :-) - the pool length is now customizable :-), plus some other smaller tweaks:

  • Did they tell you what was causing the problem and what did they do to fix it?

  • Thanks  funnily enough when I upload to strava the file loads in properly with the correct moving time, pace and distance and with all the laps in tact. But when I upload to TrainingPeaks it doesn’t bring in the moving time, only total time and doesn’t bring any lap data in. I love Garmin.

  • Went for another swim today. What would you know as soon I click the stop/save button for the activity I immediately get the blue triangle of death screen, watch crashes and when I go look at the activity on the watch I can’t view any summary data. Off to call Garmin support. That’s two swims in a row now. Running walking and cycling record find.

  • Same issue for me.Since last firmware upgrade I made 2 swim activity. Both are corrupted. This never append before (I have between 2 and 4 swim activity each week).

For others activity this seems ok (walk, bike).

    My laste two swim :

     - First one, the file don't dowload to garmin (corrupted file), the watch has rebooted when I ended the activity.

    - Second this day : the activity swas stored coorectly (without watch reboot), but In GC the actvity appears as multisport (without any intervall) and in Strava the datas are very strange.

I think there is a big bug in Last Firmware

  • Here is my story.  Fenix 6 basic,   I always do beta updates and rarely have a problem.  After one of the recent bata upgrades I noticed that after swimming the watch says "looking for external HR"  which is normal since  I have the HR-Tri but I don't swim with it.  After the screen says "save with out HR" the watch would shut down a reboot.   I could see the basic info in my Last Activity screen but nothing else.  I would upload the file and see zero distance but the laps would show.   I did a hard factory reset and did not install back any settings (mainly because I forgot to back up the watch)  so my swims have been saving.   I'm wondering if having so many betas on the watch was causing the problems?

  • In my case, I never installed beta firmware. After wich beta did this append to you (11.xx?)

I have a HRM-run connected to my watch (not will swiming :-) Next time I'll try deleting it from the senor before swim activity.

  • I've got the same problem with firmware 10.10 and 11.10.

  • Exactly same issues I’ve been having since June Only with Pool Swims. Most of the time it’s just a corrupt swim file that crashes the watch in saving and won’t upload to any service. Once however it did come to GC through as a multi sport event.
