All Weather Widget Issues - Post Here

If you do not see your weather updating on your Fenix 6 series watch, please try the following steps:

1) Ensure your watch software is fully up to date and your Connect Mobile APP has been updated.

2) Open the Connect Mobile APP and sync your watch

3) Power your smartphone off and on

4) Power your watch off and on

If still an issue:

5) Step outside and acquire GPS with any outdoor activity

6) Hard Reset - with your watch on, hold down your power button until it shuts off (you will not lose any settings with this reset)

- Also, on all iPhones, due to how iOS works with the GCM APP, you must leave the Garmin Connect Mobile APP open on your phone to remain updated. This does not require you leave your phone unlocked or the APP running in the foreground. When you first sync each day, leave the GCM APP in the background in suspend with all of the other items you have on your smartphone. Do not force close it out.

Your smartphone settings are also an impact:

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app
  2. Select   (upper left corner)
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select App Permissions
  5. Ensure Location is ON.  If not, select Manage (right side in blue)
  6. Select Permissions
  7. Enable Location
  8. Tap the back arrow at the top left to back out and save these settings
  9. Power off and then power back on the Garmin device (where applicable), and sync it through the Garmin Connect app

NOTE: For optimal performance of the Garmin Connect app, ensure that all permission settings are set to on and location set to always for the Connect APP.

Apple

  1. Open the Settings menu on the phone
  2. Select Privacy
  3. Select Location Services
  4. Toggle on if needed
  5. Select Connect from the list of apps on the Location Services screen
  6. Ensure ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS is set to Always
  7. Power off and then power back on the Garmin device (where applicable), and sync it through the Garmin Connect app

Here is our Support Center article for the Weather Widget - The Weather Widget is Not Displaying

For me personally and those I have reached out to, on our Fenix 6 watches, if we do not see the weather updated, we sync through the GCM APP and typically within 30-90 seconds, it will update and show the temperature properly again.

  • I losing connectivity since switched from v9 to v9.92 with sensor hub 6.03, but later I get back to 5.04 and upgrade to v9.94 and sometime, even if my BT connection shows my F6X PS is connected, I do not receive notification, hence connectivity is suffering. Then I switch off my watch and everything seems to go fine. Without forcing nothing, nor having done hard reset, suddenly yesterday night I finally got weather data on my widget, this morning it synchronized again at 09:32 A.M. and now at 9:06 P.M. I still have data of this morning and it does not sync. Previously I may have wind speed at 236 km/h but I always had something displayed, now I go from nothing to frozen data....

  • My weather widget (f6pro) updates with my Android phone at 1-3 hour intervals which leaves big gaps that make the current weather conditions somewhat dated. But that's the least of my concern.

I just checked on the Garmin connect webside where Garmin gets my weather data from. It's an airport located 120km away from me. It is not even the closest airport with an ICAO-Code in my area (which would be 50km away).

Yesterday's activity was recorded with a temperature of 22.2°C from that far away airport, which triggered the heat acclimatization. But at my location there were nearly 29°C, so the percentage of heat acclimatization is too low and that causes wrong data for VO2max / recovery.

Most of the guys here just want to go for a run or take their bike for a ride. We don't care about the weather conditions at an airport that's potentially hundreds of km/miles away. That doesn't make any sense.

I use the minutecast widget from accuweather to see if there's gonna be rain. The location is always spot on and updated. Why don't you give us the option to choose from different weather providers?

I just don't get the whole weather stuff you guys are doing. Sorry but like this it's totally useless and on top of that it corrupts the data.

  • I second this! As heat acclimation requires an accurate temp, can we have an  option in say Garmin Connect to select providers like Accuweather, Met Office etc etc

  • checked on the Garmin connect webside where Garmin gets my weather data from

Is that the same source as on your phone? I'd guess mine is as the weather station is at the nearest airport (Napier 93373) but unsure where to confirm this in GCM. Anybody know?

  • Sometimes I have lost connectivity to my iPhone.More often than not simply closing GCM and re-opening it is sufficient to reconnect.

  • You can only see it on the Garmin connect website. Open an activity and expand the small weather data icon by clicking on it. There you find the ICAO code of the airport and google it.

  • I never lost connectivity, until switched to v.9.92 with ANT/BLE/BT 6.03. On the other hand with ANT/BLE/BT 6.03 I finally had fixed the issue with volume on my Powerbeats Pro. Unfortunately I had one things fixed and another that worked that didn't work anymore. Get back to ANT/BLE/BT 5.04 with v, 9.94 and conectivity started to work again, but not my Powerbeats Pro :-( And now I was here to tell you that finally my weather widget seemed to sync correctly, since last day, but wait, right now, again I am this way  :-(

Yup, same thing happened to my fenix 6 Pro today.

  • As of yesterday my weather widget stopped working for me. It worked great until yesterday. Checked everything and everything is as it should on my iPhone. Did an restart of both my watch and my phone.
