  • The Hydration Widget of Garmin is not working correctly with this beta.

Normally it recognises if it is a new day and the counter will be reset. With this beta the counter has the same value as last evening.

Sometimes it has the value of the last evening at the Widget overview and if I activate the widget I get different value (Not 0) or the value of the evening before.

I think Garmin has some work to do ;-)

Edit: A case for this problem has been opened.

  • Regarding battery consumption. I also see more battery consumption with the latest two beta firmwares.

But, we should also consider how Garmin counts battery. As with every phone manufacter, each one measures battery differently, and that also varies to each model, not just the manufacturer. I am certain the same applies to Garmin (and every other watch manufacturer too).

For example, for the Fenix 6x, the battery might be going down from 100% to 50% very quickly, whereas from 50 to 0% very slowly... That does not mean that the latest betas do not have increased battery consumption (or that there is a battery leak in some form or another). It only means that you cannot have an accurate measurement if you only count how much battery has been consumed within activities. In order to have correct measurements you have to do it in battery cycles. Meaning from the last time you charged till the day it needed charging again. Of course, to do that correctly with watches, you have to have more or less the same usage within the cycles...

  • In order to have correct measurements you have to do it in battery cycles. Meaning from the last time you charged till the day it needed charging again.

That's exactly what I said in another thread. In addition, it must also be borne in mind that every battery widget itself needs CPU computing power. and thus electricity. So you will consume less electricity if you do not use a battery widget at all, but determine the consumption with the method we mentioned.

  • Using 8.10 and iam seeing considerable increase in battery usage. Prior to 8.10 with gps, various ANT sensors I would use around 5%/hour. Now it nearly doubled to around 9%/hour under identical conditions.  I also noticed that at times something is not fully turned off after either taking ox reading, music or maybe activity.  But I start to see a more rapid discharge in idle mode, then I power cycle and Things continue normally. My biggest issue is the huge increase during actvity, my hunch is its ANT related.

  • I think you should post it there (see the link below). @Garmin-Nate is looking for 8.10 users to resolve this issue.

  • This does appear to be the case.  The battery drain appears to be 'variable' at least in terms of current value of the battery level.  In the high 90%'s I show 1.4% an hour burn rate.

I just ran music off it long enough to get it down to to the low 80%'s and am seeing 1.8% battery per hour with everything else identical setting wise.  I restarted the watch between tests just to make sure it was a level playing board.  BUT... the location and time of day was different. as was cloud cover.  So this could and potentially did have some unknown impact on GPS power usage without knowing any more about power costs to acquire satellites and change between them.

While 4 half hour test runs isn't a very large data set the behaviour was consistent across the four.  The two in the 90's, 1.4%, 2 in the 80's 1.8%.

i'll run another test when I get down into the 50% but that'll be awhile.

To do this testing for real you'd really want to run the same route, same time of day with the same satellites in the sky to try and remove as much variability of GPS as possible.  Or just turn GPS off to get a base burn rate at each % block to see if that has the same variability.

  • Dear GARMIN, I have two suggestions.

    1) I´d be glad, If You could add more settings to Pulse ox sensor. There are only three options for measure - OFF/DURING SLEEP/WHOLE DAY. Everybody knows, that it consumes a lot of battery, so why not add more options? For example measurement each 1/2/4/8/12/24 hours. That will affect battery only a bit. Please consider this.

    2) Pleeeeease make a possibility to configure datafields on mobile phone in Garmin Connect. Why is that a problem? It could also contain some presets or the presets of datafileds for each activity could be next downloadable setting in Connect IQ.

By the way, I am very satisfied with F6Pro GPS on the first bike ride. Excellent accuracy compared to previous FR645 and mobile phone! But it was on handlebars.. Next I'll try run on oval and in nature. Hope it will be +-same :-).

  • With this beta the counter has the same value as last evening

This bug was present also with 8.10 but is solved with version 1.11 of the widget. Have you downloaded it?

Now there is an "updating" message opening the widget.
