  • Keep holding it down, about 5-10 seconds after that screen it will shut down.

  • Same here. After "Widget glance" off, is ok. They answer your email?

  • I experience the same.

I've fully charged the watch on april 8. night and went to sleep. During 8 hour it uses 2% of battery (pulseox disabled). In the morning (yesterday) I was running 30 min on treadmin (with Stryd footpod, HRM belt, No music, GPS disabled), and the battery dropped 5% in half hour.

Then in the evening I was running 60 min outdoor (Stryd footpod, GPS on, HRM belt, Spotify podcast) and I finished the day at 55% battery. So I lost in one day 45% battery with 90 min activity. After syncing my day to Garmin Connect, I've switched the watch to airplane mode and today mornin I was at 53%, so the battery usage is normal again.

Before firmware 8.XX series my watch was using about 0,1-0,3% battery/hour in smartwatch mode and with daily 1-1,5 hour activity I was charging it one a week. Now it lasts 2 or maximum 3 days.

Something similar happened with my Fenix 5 Plus ~2 years ago after a firmware update. They failed something and the watch stucked in "high power mode" after an activity and that drained the battery, but if I've soft reseted the watch it was normal again.

In firmware 8.XX series they have updated SENSORHUB, GPS and ANT/BLE/BT so I think there is something with these.

Those who suffers from battery drain... are you using external sensors and devices? (footpod, hrm belt, headphone, etc...)

  • Went back to 8.10 and stress level was fine.
8.10 seems more tuned for my type of sportsman ;-)

  • Indeed, I use external HR and Footpod. With this combination the consumption was always under 2,5%/h. When I used Spotify, was 6%/h. Yesterday, with external HR and Footpod, the consumption was 4,27% for 1h outdoor run. Something with sensors or antennas firmware has been broken.

  • Just finished a 30 min treadmill workout and the battery dropped from 51% to 44%.
(Stryd footpod with ANT+, HRM belt with ANT+, no GPS, no MUSIC)

Before 8.XX I used to have the same 2-3%/h battery usage which you also mention.

Now I'm doing a factory reset and go back to the official 8.10 firmware and wait for a new stable release... in the meantime I charge the watch every second day for 1000 EUR!

Ridiculous that the watch was nearly perfect with the stock firmware and as they started to "develop", every firmware has a log of bugs... but you can't go back. :(

  • I feel like people don't understand what a beta is for...

  • well i've tried all 3rd party widgets i have - battery(only one), hydration, qr viewer and barcode viewer. None of them crashed.

as for why - i consider that as many of us check and report an issue the more attention will get from the developers

Good solid reason for it Slight smile

Which battery widget are you using?

  • Funny, after update to 8.74 , the watch never start track stress again after a indoor cycling exercise. I use a external HR sensor, cadence sensor and a wahoo kickr. I found a solution, after every exercise i uninnstall the stress widget, restart the watch and install the widget again. Voila. Mail sent to the beta team.

  • I went on an MTB tour today.
I recorded with my Edge 830 and the Polar OH1.
I used the Fenix in normal watch mode. And I have to say the heart rate was very accurate. I also had a heart rate up to 180bpm. It seems like something has improved.
