No GPS fix, CPE file missing again

After a period of functioning normally last GPS track had a flaw in it. Did not give it to much attention but after starting an activity yesterday I noticed that the watch fails to get a GPS fix.

There is a CPE file on the watch (checked this) but the watch says it is missing. Tried the soak thing but that did not help. Had this problem before. That time the watch started functioning normally after lots of resets. I don't want to go in to this procedure again because it would mean losing all settings again.

Any suggestions to get the CPE file loaded again?

Just had the same problem, tried resetting everything, deleting the cpe file, nothing worked.

Until, I changed maps, so disabled all but one of the garmin built in maps, I normally use talkytoaster maps. After this I got a gps fix quickly, and then reenabled the talkytoaster map.

I have no idea why it worked, but that's all I did when it worked.

Sorry to hear you had to go through this :-( It does strengthen my concern that there is a bug somewhere in CPE handling. Could you please check which folder(s) the CPE file(s) are in on your watch. I have one in 'newfiles'. Maybe I can move it manually to the folder where it needs to go?

Installed the beta software still stuck with a watch that does not get a GPS lock. Garmin what is going on?!

Thank you for your comments. Yes, synced many times already. Unfortunately this does not fix the problem.

CPE file should be in the REMOTESW folder (sports & fitness devices)
on what device do you have this problem
what is the status of CPE in the about menu on your device
clear the contents of the REMOTESW folder and sync with Garmin Express
1. check if the REMOTESW folder gets a CEP.BIN file with current file date

1. Checked, the file is there.

2. 6X Pro

3. Status is missing

4. Removed and synced quite a few times now. File is there but is not 'recognized' by the watch?

As mentioned had this one time before. Had to reset the watch multiple times. Was about to send the watch back to Garmin (already had a return number). On the last attempt before putting it in a box it miraculously started working again... Must be a software bug. But looks like very few people have it.

this CPE.BIN is from 27 feb

are you using non Garmin maps ?

one more .... a hard reset,

press and hold the light button for at least 15 seconds until the display goes dark

afterwards resync time with GPS

one more ... turn watches bluetooth connections off with the phone (when used)

repeat all without bluetooth connected

one more ... would you be so kind and post all the firmware versions you find in the about menu on your watch

Actually there are two CPE files right now. Both of today. Uploaded one.

- Yes disabled all but the base map. I have to do this for each activity right? No other maps than that are on the watch by default.

- Tried many hard resets. Time won't sync. Only one red segment on the outer ring shows.

- Already tried without Bluetooth. No solution unfortunately.

- Software v7.77, GPS 2.8 (!), wifi v2.60, ciq v3.1.7, bmx v0.5.2, whr v20.04.70, ant/ble/bt v4.3, sensor hub v.5.05.
