Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

  • I created this post some days ago. My Fenix 6 worked if I move the watch more away from the wist as explained in the second picture.

At least two and half finger away.

    Hi,

I have the Fenix 6x Pro Solar and I did my first activity since 2 moths that reports correct hr values. The solution/workaround is very simple and the funny thing is found it on the Suunto.com support page (maybe the better company/watch).

The first picture is the position if you use it in smartwatch mode (no training).

In training mode Suunto recommends to move watch back. It may never be a problem for people with larger wrists.

I tried it today and it worked perfect for me.

Here is the link to my workout

And yes, I was a little slow because I currently have flu ;)

Please try and post some feedback.

    Cheers

    Florian

  • Everyone that have the same issue should call the Garmin support and inform the support staff about the problem. There is already a DEV ticket and the can map your complains to the ticket to get more pressure on it.
I tried it today and it worked perfect for me.

    Sorry, i can’t follow you ...?

  • forget the sentence "I tried it today and it worked perfect for me." it was copy & past error from another post.

I created an official Garmin support ticket regarding the issue and told them about the problem with HR sensor problems.

The other post 1 minute before describes a workaround that works for me if I move my watch during a workout more backward. At least two and half fingers from wrist.

I have faced the same issue today.

Your posts are twwo months old; has it been solved for you right now or is Garmin still working on it ?

  • No the WHR issues are not solved for anyone and are still present in all Elevate3 sensor watches (Fenix6, FR945, etc). Please contact Garmin about your problem.

It is not fixed. It is something to do with movement I think. I did a recent 10 km hike and it was reading a fairly normal reading as I walked, but when I did a short easy jog downhill it went off the scale high when I was in no way out of breath.  With the pulse ox turned off it is a bit better, but it is nowhere near as accurate as the 5 sapphire or the forerunner I had previously.  Waiting impatiently for Garmin to offer advice......

I am going to be pedantic, no apologies for that, but the problem is not on all Elevate 3 sensor watches - at least not on mine anyway.

To be precise there may be a link between the Elevate3 Sensor and the people who are experiencing problems. Not all of us with watches with Elevate3 sensors are experiencing problems.

Definitely not an issue with all Elevate 3 sensor watches.  I have both the F6 and 945 and both are working fine.

Speak for yourself, not for me. My WHR works perfectly.
