Anyone STILL having heart rate accuracy issues with their Fenix 6?

Hi all,

Super frustrated, but I am still having issues with my Fenix 6S and heart rate accuracy even with the 4.20 software update. I'm wondering if it's just me or what the deal is? I had a 5S Plus before this and had no issues doing the same activities so I really don't think it's user error. My heart rate hardly reads over 110 during really vigorous exercise when my heart rate is closer to 160+. I have tried wearing on the inside of my wrist, tried my other wrist with no luck. It consistently reads 80-110 bpm the whole time. I wouldn't have bothered to upgrade if I knew this was going to be an issue. I know that wearing a chest strap is the most accurate, but I don't like to have to wear it for all of my work outs and my old Fenix was totally fine as well as my apple watch before that. Any suggestions?

  • Yesterday was same for me. One day perfect, another like You. Went for a run. WHR on Run activity was identical to AW + chest HRM. The moment I saved my activity HR went from 160 to 69 bpm and stayed there, when AW on WHR was showing 100-130 (and it was correct).

Moved to AW4 as my all day device.

  • My watch is back on the computer. The Garmin folder is on its way.

  • Polar OH1 + recording

How is the performance of the oh1? Comfy?

I need proper and correct hr data to keep me motivated.  I do have the h7, but will use for morning hrv. The oh1 would wear during the day for walks and exercises.  I do stairs arty work.

    Nice write up!

Weren't you just praising and promoting the H10 in this thread saying the "polar h10 is best"?  It's not working properly or correctly for you?

  • In the context for the poster, yes.  In the context of myself,  i own the h7, and h10 would be redundant if i got it.  Oh1 is different, convenient,  and precise in comparison, to merit getting ;)

I own the H10 and OH1. OH1 is less reactive than H10 but remains accurate, reliable, it never gives false values. I love it because it is very confortable, easy to wear compared to chest strap. Same performances than Polar M430 I owned previously which is known to have a very good optical HR sensor.

  • So far a useless watch for me. I will probably return my Fenix 6X Pro. I am sitting in the office and the watch alerts me of abnormal high heart rate every 10 minutes, more than 110 bpm when it should be 65-70 Less than half a day and I burned more than 2000 calories, all metrics messed up. Running update 6.10 but still same problem. t is sad the way Garmin releases the products to market. Same story since all previous devices. Anyone has an idea when this issue is going to be fixed, otherwise I will return the watch as soon as I can.

  • Do what i did. if you can return it, do it. do not wait for a fix that may never happen. I have a feeling it is hardware related but i could be wrong. or combination of hardware/firmware. I have a friend that got his 6X pro since the beginning and his is working it looks like.

  • Yeah I finally returned mine, just no confidence that this will, or even can be fixed. Back to my trusty old FR235...

Polar OH1 always is spot on with HR, being worn on the left upper arm.

I am so completely pissed with the Garmin F6X Pro WHR. Did a run today, wasn’t too exhausting, the OH1 coupled to Runtastic/Adidas Running iPhone showed avg 120bpm, max 155 (feels right), whereas the Garmin showed avg 155, max 195 distorting all my training stats and progress. I am really pissed having spent so much money on a non-functional successor to my perfectly fine FitBit Charge 3. I wanted ONE device, ONE platform, instead of multiple devices, apps, what not.

garmin is NOT it, I need to face it, bummer
